Former #25 Jake Stringer (Part 2)

It’s like our Dark Souls.

How do you think we are going?

Past 6 weeks (bar GWS win) have been average at best.

well you could ask, what is the point of not burning them out and saving them for finals beyond rd 20, and then throw them in the deep end in a final and expect them to stand up against players you’re worried about hurting them in season ?

considering on paper they said it was never about this year, surely teaching guys like durham and caldwall you have to get banged up for 25 plus weeks a year, saving them from that fact is only prolonging them learning that fact ?

also saving them for beyond rd 20 is also dangerous as you actually have to make finals for the saving them to be beneficial.

but again if they can’t handle cripps and rowell in rd’s 12 odd, what makes you think they can handle them in finals ?

Do you want Caldwell and Durham going up against Cripps’, Green & Rowell types all season ?

Do you think that’s a good idea ?
I’m only talking about some (not all) CB’s.
Caldwell and Durham are playing stacks of midfield.
They’re not exactly brutes physically though are they, compared to those players I mentioned above.

i thought the handled cripps pretty well to be honest

Stringer’s big body is protecting the kids.

Yeah we won the midfield battle aside from hitouts and clearances and kept both Cripps and Walsh quiet… Let’s not let that get in the way of the truth though

Do it. Don’t be a p*ssy.

That the most improved David Myers to you!!

I think it’s finally time to drop Stringer for Zurhaar, let’s all cheer him on for his last game.

He needs to lift tomorrow

Zurhaar is trending upwards and Stringer is on the way down. Considering we don’t have a good history getting anything out of 30 plus year olds, it might be time.

it’s their job to go up against those types all season is it not ? so yes i do want them to go up against them. if they fall away by rd 20 it’s a good learning curve for them to know what and where they have to get to.

we can both play the what if game, like i mentioned what happens if they get to finals and they are expected to play against brutes for potentially 4 finals matches ?

to build resilience you actually have to test the players and see how they respond and handle it, not hide them away and hope if they make finals, they can magically turn it on.

it was the same with jones, you and peos wanted to protect him in 21 cos he couldn’t do what hooker was doing.
3 years on and he still hasn’t built or learnt to be better than what he was back then.
he’s a kpf who’s kicked 11 goals in 12 odd matches and barely kicked more than 2 goals a game on his good days.

you don’t teach players to get better, and to handle the rigors or afl footy, by hiding them away and protecting them for later on in the season, and just magically assuming they can handle the brutes and physicality of afl finals, just cos.

Hahahaha.

Oh DKP. You’ll eventually find a spin one day to convince yourself that you were right about dropping Hooker when he was third in the Coleman, for…Josh Eyre.

Now it’s about Jones, who was playing at the time?? Hahahaha.

it was always about jones first, and then trialling others of which eyre was one.
3 years on and we still have no suitable replacement for hooker, and rarely have tried anyone else, all because you guys were scared about giving jones more responsibility first and foremost.
