He was born in 2002, sorry I know you meant 2019. It’s no small thing to have 2 knee reconstructions and should always be a consideration, especially if he shows the negative impacts to his mobility. The foot is of serious concern, but he could have recovered from that.

There have been many comments in here about his ‘turning circle’ being rather extensive. If accurate it is a function of untrustworthy knees (even if only psychological from Baldwin) and would have had the club concerned that he had the mobility to take on AFL standard players week in and out.

Personally I’m glad to hear he’s back in contention for a spot, if only to play regularly on the VFL list. It’s been noticeable how poor the VFL list has been, it’s about time good quality players filled out the squad.

Everything that VFL watchers like myself saw and valued in him was post the knee injuries. He should have played 10-15 senior games in 2023. Unless the foot injury is somehow connected to the knees then the knees haven’t been an issue in a long time.

Needs to go to a lower level - VFL or interstate league - and get himself right with performances that’s his path back if you still wants it

AFL clubs just aren’t taking up the resources required to get a bloke back on the park that hasn’t shown much to date

I thought Baldwin was showing good signs personally. Unlucky with injuries. If he gets through preseason we should absolutely sign him, and banish Lav to the VFL for his final year of his contract. Baldwin is only young still (22) and a much better user of footy than Lav, who he’s effectively there to replace.
