Can’t we trade 1 spud for 2 bigger spuds?
Thank goodness we got Jake Kelly as a free agent rather than trading for him.
Ps we pumped 40+ games into this bloke for a younger player the past 2 seasons. Brad Scott right there. Absolute joke.
He was 27 2 seasons ago. By that logic let’s also not play Redman for the next 2 seasons as he had a shocker this year. Let’s get Lual in who’s barely had a kick in the 2’s.
Brads made some errors but the catastrophising that he’s the devil is pretty lame. He’s been preaching longer term all year and not once got ahead of himself. Now the emotion has past in pretty certain his role is to get this club back to a professional organisation, not necessarily flag winners in the short term. He’ll likely see out his 5 years if we’re slowly building the foundations to take us forward.
Credit to BDB and Rosa for moving past Kelly, Hepp and putting heat on Lav. Roberts & El Hawli to start down back next year with Jay Leno, McKay, Redman and hopefully Reid. If Reid is injured it will likely be Hayes. That’s 50% of the starting 6 with just a few games under their belts.
He gave the likes of Hepp, Lav & Kelly every opportunity to show their worth as they were part of the senior core and they just weren’t good enough. Now 2 seasons in and fresh air away from the Dodoro regime, it’s the opportunity to push forward, knowing who simply doesn’t cut it
Not sure he had too much choice
I liked watching him at his best as he did some great work locking down the difficult forwards. Particularly like how he has read the room and moved on. Right decision. Thanks for the contribution and best of luck with the new adventures.
I’d like to think some of you guys are better people away from your keyboards
Hold on to that thought.
I’m hopeful that once he got over his injury late in the season El Hawli seemed to have the stamp of an AFL half back. If he grabs a position then we start shaping up next year with McKay and Ridley the 2 key backs, Redman El Hawli and McGrath as the smaller backs and dare I suggest Reid gets a final crack at getting himself fit and incorporated into the backline. That could take shape as a ‘settled’ six. Roberts could switch into a smaller role in a rotation Hayes may shape up as a replacement for any of those taller guys.
Or it will play out that McGrath forgets to cover his man and misses targets regularly, Ridley plays 4 wonderful games and then has an 8 week soft tissue injury, Reid pulls a hamstring and costs himself 10 weeks before round 1, McKay becomes the only tall and gets ground down, Redman dreams of South Australia, and we call up Laverde to play 20 games as the last man standing.
Nope!
I’ll miss him more on the wing.
Interestingly, I think this bloke is the only player I’ve ever seen who was easily a better kick on the move than after a mark.
You know,
I struggle to find the motivation to kick someone after they are gonski.
It’s easy to get angry and vocal when they are cockblocking.
But in the aftermath, it just feels a little uncomfortable and well, just plain mean.
Take it to the Brad thread and complain there about why he was given so many games at the expense of more deserving players.
I can’t remember a year when so many Essendon players would handball straight to the opposition - especially at stoppages and in our defence.
You’re new here aren’t you?
Yep,
Set myself up for that one.
He did have a 2 year contract infront of him, it was in the article about his retirement.
Ugh
Brought in as a lock down defender and then played on the wing. I felt the coaches set him up to be criticised.
I always felt he was giving it his all and he managed to play quite a few AFL games and have a decent career. All the best for your future endeavours.
Surely not
Free was overs.
