Former #36 Jayden Davey

It is time.

Give him a few games either in place of his brother or in the Hobbs sub role

@Bigpapa I’ll move it over here to keep others happy.
The best trait about Jayden is he is the small forward we are crying out for very fast and very skillful.
He is also probably the only one who can be a genuine dangerous crumber.

Yeah that’s what we heard about him in his draft year but obviously long way back from his injuries. Really exciting he showed that in the VFL yesterday. He’s exactly what we need in our forward line.

I can’t see how he can’t do exactly what is brother is doing, but more.

Tackles better in my opinion as well, but I think having Jayden in the side would lift alwyn

Bring him in for north as a steadier so he can play Dreamtime with his brother. Make Alwyn Sub.
After Richmond reassess is we play just as well with both of them in the team.

Should we debut Jayden against North or Dreamtime against the tigers?

You could argue easily.

We have been carrying Alwyn. He shouldn’t be playing. To debut an extremely similar player playing an extremely similar role and it not be replacing but rather being surplus would be poor selection integrity.

It’s good that he kicked a few goals and got involved a lot more than previously and I could be wrong with what I’m about to say here but my gut feel is that the coaches and S&C team will be playing the long game with him in terms of his fitness levels given how far back he’s coming from and how little football he’s played in the last 3-4 years.

I’d be surprised if he was considered AFL ready by way of his running and fitness markers.

I guess the exception to that is playing him as the sub so that could be an option but you still don’t truly have control over when a sub might be needed. It’s also obviously not the ideal way to debut, but I guess many are doing it across the competition this year.

I don’t agree, Sheedy used to say play the kids let them find out what they need to improve on then send them back to the VFL. Blind Freddy can see what Jr needs to work on, now it’s Jayden turn.

How do you gift both of them games in the seniors and who are you taking out to manufacture this fairytale?

If Alwyn is having 3 possession games and his brother comes into the side, and it’s not replacing Alwyn, then selection integrity is out the window. We aren’t good enough to play those silly games irrespective of the feels we will all get with them in the same side for Jayden’s debut.

Alwyn needs to play VFL. Sorry I just thought you were saying something else.

Pretty sure Jayden was the essendon representative for Sir Doug Nicholls round today…

We cant play both Daveys, its not like we are a game clear on top of the ladder. Alwin has had plenty of opportunities but needs to got back to the VFL. Havent seen Jayden play, but if Scott wants a small forward maybe try Jayden

No way am I debuting Jayden without his brother in the team, manage Stringer or Jones and play another small.
The two of them will play better alongside each other, it’s all about the connection, the Vibe.

Does he play with a lack of physicality like his brother?

just make 1 sub.

Didn’t watch the game vs Williamstown but some who did mentioned that he didn’t lay a tackle and his pressure was not great in spite of him kicking 3 goals. Not sure that Brad will drop Alwyn for Jayden based on that.
