Jayden shows more than alwyn and this is first year off a knee injury. He isn’t as soft and has better goal sense.

You know i read yesterday that alwyn won the best young player award at Essendon last year, or something along those lines. I couldn’t believe it, he has been terrible in comparison to his under 18 days. Some really strange judgements on players at the club these days, there must be a whole different criteria they’re looking at. It’s actually a bit concerning.

Overall though, Jayden definitely deserves another year, alwyn, not so sure you can undo his level of softness to ever make it as a decent afl footballer.

Sounds like your having a crack at the JHA.

Alwyns junior year was good.
kako has been good this year too.

But historically you look back at the following
Watson
Daniher x 2
Long
Wallis
Davey x 2
Wanganeen
Hird

None of them really hit the ground running in their first season at the EFC, yes Watson may be before academy got going but still relevant somewhat to Houli’s discussion of being comfortable early days.
Joe Daniher equivelant to top 10 pick, but early days I doubt he was putting heaps of work in at the gym, just getting by on talent.

maybe it comes down to the individual.

Who was his competition Tsatas was injured and barely played a game.
Davey and Tsatas were the only ones that played AFL really last year from that draftee group.

Yes good point, but Hayes was better than him, despite not getting a senior gig.

yeh, nah.

Jayden is a.more natural forward, a season in the VFL after injury plagued career, hopefully the experience holds him in good stead for a big preseason so he can try and break into our forwardline at some point next year.

Funny, I drafted a post almost exactly like this and deleted it as I couldn’t be bothered.

I think there could be something there for sure.

It was incredibly well received as you can see :sweat_smile:

Which is why I had the good sense to backspace!

That’s pretty grim.

You have to ask the question if j davey gets delisted why did we go to the effort of drafting him in the main draft, he hadn’t been bid on could have had him on the cat b this whole time had an extra list spot

Delisted?

I can’t see it. I think they’ll give him a year or whack him on the rookie list. But some have said he’s not the most professional kid to come into our environment…not sure Brad likes that!

Yeah I could see them moving him to rookie list but that usually doesn’t go well

Need to get a proper look at him after a full pre-season, which will be his first.

If he can get super fit he’ll be able to up those tackle numbers and get to more contests, so it’s on him to do the work. Has genuine pace and goal nous though, which we need.

Hasn’t been delisted yet but cal twomey made mention it doesn’t look great for him

If they delist him, it raises yet another red flag about WTF is actually going on at the club re drafting and list management.
Granted the main culprit is now on the back burner for awhile, but going back the last few years…
Mozzie, brand, eyre, cahill, johnson, the other aboriginal kid who lasted a year.

What is the point of drafting these kids when they are so far from it ?

J davey was coming of a knee reco, so wasn’t going to play much if at all in his first year, and then potentially gets the ass in year 2. surely you either pick these kids up knowing it’s a long process to get there were they need to be, or you don’t pick them up because of the same thing.
you don’t pick them knowing it’s a long process, then 2 years in can them cos they aren’t mature enough to be ready by the end of year2

Jaiden Davey…… is not the problem with this club.

Senior players are the problem.
