Saints fall just short in Frankston

Joel was also the best of the Selwood’s.
Shane Crawford was better than his brothers (at least one of which was younger).
no you’re just acting like a k.n.o.b about it.
its really not that difficult to understand, its about actually trying to develop young players when they are on our list and putting the time into them, and how we treated him at the time.
I couldn’t give a stuff about his current VFL form, I’m not calling to bring him in based on that, he has a lot more work to do.
Jayden wasn’t even the worst development under Brad, it was his brother.
Exposed way too early when he was completely out of his depth skinny and scared, then continually selected breaking his confidence at senior level.
Then in his last year he seemed to have finally put on some size and maturity and wasn’t as scared, yet then he wasn’t selected the whole year for the AFL and was then delisted. Complete mismanagement of a young players development.
How old was froggy when we drafted him?
Edit: He was 22 y.o, same age as Jayden is now.
His brother was about the same age when Melbourne picked him up as well I think.
It was discussed in the VFL thread that there are a heap of youngsters from that 2001 teams that have stagnated or regressed under Scott. Cox, Jones, Perkins.
He is just poison for development.
What’s happened to the 3rd brother?
What’s your point then exactly?
That we spend years trying to develop players who clearly aren’t AFL standard?
If that happens Davey turns into another Harry Jones or Aaron Francis that Blitz bemoans hanging onto for so long.
Alwyn senior passed away in the 90s so “dynamic” is probably a bit of an oversell.
Perhaps you mean Alwyn Jr?
St Kilda is a destination club for indigenous players, they are building something pretty special with the indigenous talent at the club, at a certain point imo it becomes self-perpetuating and maintaining.
Our development of all players is historically awful, and our track record with indigenous kids since sheedy is becoming a joke. But it is tied fundementally to an inability to develop any sort of coherent development strategy that produces benefits us at any level.
This one still makes no ■■■■■■■ sense. And looks even worse in hindsight.
We draft him with an injury, indicating patience is required, on a rookie deal. He spends his first season recovering from ACL number two and second season building his match fitness and game.
Plays in a position of need, with draft strengths of Speed, Tackling pressure and Goal Sense. Some of the hacks we kept and this kid was not worth further persisting with time and resources.
He kicked nearly a goal a game for us in 2024 in the VFL. 17 goals from 18 games. It felt a harsh delisting at the time.

This sport is very unfair to some of its players.
What’s with the infographic.
He could have been a star, far too many injuries too early on.
