Some people develop an ā€œattachmentā€ to a player for a variety of reasons…sometimes this extends past their time on the list and people like to see them play well (generally not against us though)

Perhaps similar to the attachment you feel to all the players you think we should pick up from other teams

I similarly don’t understand why people feel the need to come in here and tell people they couldn’t give a ā– ā– ā– ā–  about him. Seems like a waste of time

Cmon Nino. There is clearly some nuance here. There are different types of ex-player.

E.g. your JoeDan, Adam Saad snakes of the world.

Vs your Patrick Voss types. Vossy was delisted never having played a game. A favourite for many who watched VFL. He’s been given a lifeline and people are understandably happy for him.

Because the overwhelming majority of people on this forum dont have the mental capacity of a 10 year old. They can distinguish that a football player is also a human being that we can wish the best for.

Do i also need to break it to you that WWE wrestling is fake?

Good on him. Has earned his shot, and has taken this initial opportunity both hands.

Hope he forges out a good career.

This is exactly what I was told by someone at the club …….bad influence off the field

You’re spot on but you already knew that.

Scott said: ā€œI don’t think it’s a fitness issue. We’ve run the best running teams in the competition to wins or very close losses this year. There’s a difference between training hard – and I think everyone trains hard – to what an AFL lifestyle looks like, so that’s the area I’m more concerned about and need to address.ā€

Good luck to Voss whatever happens in his career.

I need @Rom s thoughts on this and whether it’s a fact or not

Sounds like the Flying Dutchman

You call that factual ?

Not sure that’s why I call in the experts

Just for perspective though, as to exactly how vastly a different era it was, the peak era of Brereton and Vanders is now as distant in time as the peak era of John Coleman was to Brereton and Vanders.

i’d be questioning why a 19 yr old at the time rookie listed player has any influence over others, ala if they are so easily swayed by said player then maybe they are the ones needing to be told to pull their heads in.

as in a 18 year old doesn’t walk into the club and dictate to others to not be more professional, he may well thrive in an unprofressional environment, but he sure as ā– ā– ā– ā–  aint setting the standard for it.

interesting though he can be a bad influence off the field, apparently loves getting on the sauce, yet as someone else mentioned above rarely missed training or games last year, and 7 odd months after getting cut from us, and supposedly having a drinking problem and being a bad influence, went over to WA continued on said patterns of behaviour and just debuted despite all of the atrociously unprofessional nature he’s always apparently shown.

Maybe the penny dropped and he pulled his head in.

I always knew is was Voss’s fault we sucked last year and maybe even before that, thank god he’s gone.

There’s also a bit of a difference being a part of a Melbourne club in a city that has an incredibly rich social environment versus being some where like Geelong which is a far more smaller town

I guess that’s probably one of the down sides of being a large club in a major city

Literally no one knows this. Not you, me or anyone else. That’s the whole point. How do you know he’s no good? There’s definitely something to work with there

He had 11 touches, a goal, 5 score involvements and 5 marks on debut. Its a decent start.

Maybe he will be ā– ā– ā– ā– . Maybe he will be great? The whole point here is we…dont…know.

Yet you’re quick to make bold negative statements about our own players after a few games. Funny how that works.
