Ah, we’re now at the ‘10 years later’ stage, when a bunch of the people who were quiet self-interested collaborators in the whole ■■■■■■■■■■■ are starting to quietly express nuance.
Going by the example of the Iraq War, in another 10 years, everyone will loudly proclaim that what happened was a foul injustice and will pretend to have been against it all along, although not to the point of any sort of actual accountability for the people responsible, who by then will have comfortably retired with a vast payout.
I heard he gave it to tim Watson who stuck it up his ass for safekeeping, to be given to his grandson WOLF (or whatever his name is), ala Christopher Walken in pulp fiction.
He’s got a good way of looking at the Brownlow situation. When are they just going to give it back and say sorry, especially considering all the recent rulings in other sports.
Don’t reckon it’s a closed book. Billy Hutchinson was awarded one long after he won it. I know the circumstances were different. But once the CAS decision is exposed as a sham the AFL will have to give Jobe’s back. And the CAS decision will be exposed one day and possibly sooner than anyone thinks.
The NRL didn’t declare the runners up as the premiers after the flags were stripped from Melbourne. Wouldn’t have been hard to do something similar and leave the door open.
Basically, the AFL had no interest in doing what was right. No suprises there.
Jobe was deemed ineligible for the award, just like someone who cops a suspension during the season is ineligible. The medal had to go to next in line. That’s the system.
There is definitely an argument as to whether the determination of ineligibility was fair. I don’t think there is an argument as to whether from that determination the medal had to go to next in line. Once it was determined, there was no alternative option.
I dont think its a big deal for Mitchell or Cotchin, yeh it sounds nice, but they each have plenty of premiership medallions to satisfy them.
I cant imagine anything happening in the next ten years.
If Demetriou and McLachlan both got hit by a bus it would be a higher chance of happening sooner.
Which is kinda the point. The AFL only have a system, any system, so that when their wishes happen to align with it, they can say ‘sorry, that’s the rules.’
When their aim goes against the rules, they just do what they want anyway.
