Why doesn’t Nas just share a house or buy one next to Tex? It’s not like they live in different states.
Yeah, I mean it’s not un-weird. Would it even tip the scales that much? I mean, I get on well with my cousins, but my career choices would not be impacted by the opportunity to work with them.
It’s a ridiculous play really, doubt it works.
I hope Tex grabs it with both hands though (looking fwd to him kicking bags against us in the future)
You would have to think Nasiah might have had some influence on this in his re-signing negotiations.
Tex had foot issues at Essendon
And Baldwin
And Hird
And Ben Mckay
And Harrison Jones ( more ankles)
And Will Setterfield
And many more.
Hope Tex can get his body right as he sure has skill. Good luck to him at the Saints
He didn’t even have a good season at Port Melbourne.
I wish I had a gun distant relative on a list that would only commit to a contract on the proviso that I was also recruited.
Hardly distant.
NWM mum is gavin’s sister.
same same
This is actually really fkn weird IMO.
Is there any example of anything like this in AFL history?
Paddy Ryder demanded Dodoro sign Leroy Jetta ![]()
I dunno about cousins…I mean we grabbed Alwyn and his Brother as well with a stuffed knee.
We also picked up Michael Longs nephew Anthony Long. Likely ahead of where he would be in the pool. We didn’t select Ben long though.
Brisbane Lured Lachie Neale by also trading in his best mate from the cats Lincoln McCarthy.
All things being equal and if done on form, merit and physical preparedness, no AFL club would even remotely consider drafting Tex Wanganeen this off season.
It’s the biggest stable pony situation I’ve ever seen. Everyone, including Tex himself would know this is a joke. But hey, I’m sure he’ll take it.
Clubs pick players up in “potential" plenty of times….
Finished the season at Xavs in the Ammos.
So NWM got St Kilda to pay him 2 million a year AND pick up his cousin? You know he’s fcking off home in 2 years to a less sh*t club too, what a legend.
Don’t mind your examples but they are all way less odd than this.
Jayden was always worth a go and was highly rated despite injuries. Picked up at 18 yo. Leroy was always getting picked up. McCarthy had played dozens (50? ) games and was always rated and talented.
Tex was a borderline player who snuck onto the last spot on our list as SSP, barely managed a couple games and ultimately failed, before returning to the VFL, spent most of the year injured and thus arguably wouldn’t be in the top 500 most eligible players in the country. And they’ve basically agreed to side door him.
Wanganeen is also cousins with the Daveys.
And only got a chance with us as SSP due to connections father son.
so similar scenario really.
it’s just an opportunity to train for a spot isn’t it. so will need to perform.
He likely is a better prospect now than when he came to us.
