Former #47 Oskar Smartt

He did…in 2016…but they quickly realised they needed to kick it high to Tippa’s taller opponent and it quickly became a weakness

Would have preferred Foley, I’m sure he’d be another Roberts at afl level and step in like a 25 year old player.

I’ll give Smart a shot though, I’ve seen glimpses of talent mixed amongst Cahill and Menzie ‘wtf’ type moments every time I’ve seen him play. So he might come good in a full time environment.

Its been quiet in this thread. I would love to see a straight swap for Gresham this weekend. Gresh has talent, but needs a kick up the backside in the VFL. Oskar looks like he can impact straight away.

He couldn’t impact the VFL, not sure how he’s going to impact the AFL.

Hes been consistent for the year though. I reckon he will offer more than Gresham

Disagree. A pick on the mid season draft is about a long shot as you can get. If it helps get us the best kid in the comp, then its absolutely worth it…and astute.

“Hey Harley, come to Essendon! You’ll get to watch your mate get delisted right up close. You’ll be right there when his dream is shattered while he was on the very cusp of achieving it.”

Or, why drafting stable ponies is a stupid idea.

By that point he’ll have signed a “don’t forget you’re here for life” deal though…

Is there any evidence that Reid and Smartt are actually mates, or is it assumed because they once played together as juniors?

I think someone saw them in the same suburb 5 years ago

To suggest that Smartt was only drafted as a lure for Harley Reid is disrespectful to the young man.

What about Brisbane trading for McCarthy so they can get Neale?

McMcarthy could play, he was just injured all the time

that was a good goal, one hand pickup fend off then dribble it through under pressure.

Try all the kids. Lets see who has it. He had some moments today, that goal was a ripper too.

Anyone know what’s up with Oskar Smartt? Have they forgotten he is on the list? He missed the last game with an unspecified injury but didn’t get a mention on the injury report before or since.

Sounds like Smartt has well and truly gone under the Cone of Silence.
