Former #49 Jaiden Hunter

If any KF’s are getting axed, it has to be Weideman first

He has always looked the part.
Fingers crossed he gets a good run at it from here on.

Wiedeman will definitely be delisted. He wasn’t even considered when 2MP was suspended. There’s already a line through his name.

And I think Hunter will be very lucky if he isn’t delisted too. It’d be a complete bummer but he’s not been able to get on the park and is about 5th in line.

I would keep him on for depth unless we bring someone else better in as a replacement

We can make AI nightmares but we can’t invent a reliable cure for ACLs.

My geuss is Weid is gone, there’s probably a trade in there so maybe Shiel or a club like North may come for someone like Laverde.
Then it’s pretty much take a geuss between Hunter wanganeen hind.
Or Goldie retires

Running again so soon after doing an ACL. Well ahead of schedule or perhaps his injury was on the lower end of the scale of seriousness. Either way l am very glad to see him back and look forward to seeing him in action in the red & black.

Running 3 months post surgery is about Par, in the next 4 month he will build up to agility work. But it is the slowest part of the recovery.

9 - 12 months he can full train again. I suspect he won’t join full training until Jan next year (if still on the list)

The forward line talls.

2MP - Let’s hope he stays fit, and firing.
Drapes - Yeah, nah. I’m yet to see consistency.
Weid. - Only if desperate. No, not even then.
Jones - Playing well, but more a CHF or HFF.
Caddy - Learning. Yet to earn a call up.

Then both at 192cm. Where’s the ‘tallish’ cut-off?

Langford - Going okay, has some quiet days.
Stringer - Playing well.

So, looking at that list, you’d hope to hell that 2MP stays healthy, as otherwise you’re scrathing for a useful (sorry Drapes) tall option.

If it were me, I’d keep the 196cm, 93kg, and 22yo Hunter on the list based on my perceived weakness of tall KPF’s. I’d like to see if he can hold up and what he can produce next year.

I’m of the opinion he’s professional enough, dedicated enough, and self driven to be the best he can be. I’ll take that every day of the week.

I’d be rapt to see this guy Hunter overcome injuries, stay on the list, and make his mark on the game. Of course, what I want, and what the club delivers are two separate things. The last 20 years stand testimony to that.

Noted that the 204cm Visentini is reportedly showing great promise as a tall KPF in the VFL and should (heaven forbid) something happen to 2MP in the short term. Visentini could likely take a (forced) very big step up in class of competition.

I’ll admit what I saw in his one VFL game (I was there) and reading his WAFL performances may skew my opinion. But he looked like a natural AFL player. Given how hard it is to find key forwards, then depending on his recovery, future prognosis and attitude, I’d be very tempted to keep him another year.

List spots will obviously come into it. If we have 5 players leaving but only 2-3 good picks it becomes an easier sell. If it’s him vs a free agent ….

Isn’t he currently 5th in the Coleman?

How has he gone backwards? Seems to be developing nicely. Still young and has a huge upside. Played a blinder in the VFL last week. He and Visentini look really promising.

That was written before last week but I still hold that view in he’s fourth year I thought he would be challenging for a spot in the side it doesn’t appear to be the case, still struggles to be a presence around the ground and doesn’t have the skill to go forward and influence games.
We know Brad likes a two ruck system and to be apart of that you need to be competent in areas beside tap work, I would not be surprised if he seeks opportunity elsewhere at the end of the year and if we could get a second or third I would take it and try to address other areas of needs

This is such a crazy take. The reason so many Blitzers who watch VFL are so keen on Bryan is that he gets heaps of possession around the ground and has fantastic disposal. Your expectations of where a young ruck should be in their fourth season is weird.

That’s understandable mate at the end of the day it’s just my opinion

Fifth season, for what it’s worth.

If he’s so good why isnt he getting games ahead of Goldstien?

Goldy is doing extremely well at the moment.
But sooner or later we need to play Bryan.

Given the need for CHB’s. Why can’t he be trialled there at VFL level.

Ryder played a great apprenticeship playing at CHB under Sheedy and I would say it worked extremely well.

Re Hunter

I would like to sign him & think he can do something. His attitude is absolutely first rate. He is very coachable and wants it. Give the bloke a go.

The thing with our situation is Draper is clearly the preferred number one ruck (much to my dislike but that’s another topic for another thread) so for Bryan to get into the team and compliment Draper he needs to be able to impact forward or have a point of difference and he just doesn’t have that but vigo does.
Back to Hunter also I would love to keep him before he was recruited averaging four goals a game and then the effort in the vfl was fantastic in my opinion
