Former #8 Ben Hobbs

All shapes and sizes can play AFL.

But when your Hobbs height and build, you have to have a quick 5m spread….he doesn’t.
Elite kick……he doesn’t
Elite decision making….he doesn’t

In fairness to him, a half forward flanker he ain’t.

There are so many clubs he’ll get 30-5-5.
But it will never be for us.

Edit: having said that, he Does have a 29-6-6.

He’s ok around the ball but he cannot move. He’s horrendous in transition with and without the ball. We just don’t need him.

Yes because they are numbers for half forwards of course they are going to look better than most half forwards because he doesn’t really play that position he just starts there and comes up to the stoppage.
Look where got his possession tonight.

At…high half forward?

Can you not read he got 69 percent of it in the back half and the other slightly back of the centre square

Okay, fair enough, I read it backwards.
I’m still not sure of your point?

I think he is getting games because of his endeavour and intensity.

No one can question his willingness to impact a contest and hunt the footy and the man.

Maybe the coaching group is asking this of other players currently in the vfl, and therefore cannot drop the guy who does it better than anyone else, even if he ultimately isn’t up to it.

By the coach rewarding the behaviours he wants to see in the rest of his team, he is forcing other players to match Hobbs’ intensity to replace him in the side.

I’m too sober to go back and forth on this.

Gresham, Perkins, Parish, Guelfi… all bigger issues than Hobbs for me.

My point was the guy prior was saying he has elite stats as catergorised by the afl and I was pointing out that he only starts as a half forward and gets catergorised as that but in reality he spends a lot of time up at the stoppage

facepalm
Just trade him.
For gods sake just trade him to a team that will put him in the middle.

He runs, he tackles, he gets the ball.
Some teams value that.

Honestly, what are we expecting from him? What is his role actually supposed to be?
It’s not apparent to me, and I kind of suspect it’s not apparent to him.

If you want him to be De Goey…guess what.

I’m pretty surprised. I was at the game so I didn’t have the perfect view but I really liked some of his stuff in close. I thought he was better than he has been in past rounds and was the least of our concerns. Am I on my own?

He also didn’t miss a target

I agree with you he was good in 23 and we stuffed him. He is now average however and can’t even stick a tackle- when toughness on the ball is supposed to be his best trait.

Trade him. Good luck to him, but he ain’t the answer for us.

The afl app has him as a forward which skews the stats a little

For ■■■■■ sake. No I wasn’t.

Again you’re being disingenuous. And again, “the guy prior” is me @brem06, hi, been around a while now.

You said Hobbs is below average at everything. I showed otherwise. At no point did I call him elite FFS.

At this point, the amount of times you’ve misrepresented something I’ve said on this forum, you’re either stupid, a liar, a child, or a troll. I just can’t decide which. Either way, I can’t be farked with that kind of ■■■■.

You shared the stats to prove he wasn’t below average I and others have explained why those stats are misleading and because you don’t like that you call me a liar or a troll.
Elite was a misstep on my part I can wear that but to resort to name calling isn’t the right way to go about it

He had some really good moments mainly when on ball. He cops a ton of crap in here. Time to call out the captains output and his mates

Port Melbourne, Glenelg, Subiaco etc

Effective disposals per going to ground is ■■■■■. I thought he’d improved this but more time in the midfield just brings it out again

I’d say it’s about 1:3. Elite e.g. Ablett, Dangerfield, Martin is about 15:1

Wright is about the worst though!
