Silly decision. Put years of development into someone just to trade them out.
We are in a situation where we should have brought in talent not shipped it off. I’m really not clear on what the club is trying to achieve right now

It seemed a lot like this trade was requested by Amber, not initiated by the club.
She was contracted for another year. The club had options
Maybe they saw what happened across the corridor when the men’s team kept players to contracts against their want and decided it’s a bad choice?
The AFLW is not yet at a point where holding players against their want is justified. Amber still works part time during the season. It’s not a fully professional league. If players want to change teams, I think for now a protocol of just facilitating it is completely fine.
Draft pools are getting stronger and pick 8 will get us a high end talent. It’s not a horrible outcome.
I get your point but contracts are still contracts, in any profession. It depends on the level of discontent that amber had but I don’t agree that the club should just facilitate a trade because someone requests it.
The amber Clarke and Paige Scott outcomes will put the talent on our list back fairly significantly. A result that supporters and members shouldn’t be happy with. I understand your point but the club needs to look after the club first and foremost and the outcomes of both these scenarios hurt the club. Pick 8 for amber sets us back slightly. Paige Scott for nothing fairly significantly. I just don’t give the club an out on this. It’s a very bad trade period for us for two reasons:
