I forgot about those book characters, and a lot of the Dorne stuff, might have to do a re-read...
Yezzan?

What the hell happened to Arianne Martell and Ser Arys Oakheart?

Maybe that's a dead end they din't feel the need to bother with?

Arianne Martell is a POV character in The Winds of Winter! How can they cut her out? So Season 5 will have no Greyjoys?

No Greyjoys is a good thing. Boring as. Theon can go eat a d***. Just not his own anymore.

I see the likely 'race to the finish' as a good thing. The books are going nowhere.

All the greyjoy stuff just threw a massive anchor on the whole storyline, was tough to get through when there was so much happening elsewhere. Could have just been summarised at a small council meeting at KL "oh and btw we have word that such and such has been elected king of the Iron Islands over the other relatives who were in contention, we should be wary".

It's really hard to get into characters when in the back of your mind you are thinking "just FOAD so I can get back to the interesting characters".

Was the Arianne POV chapter released already? I think I've read it already but have completely forgotten the content, might have to check out GRRM's page again.

Can't agree Rolo that the books are going nowhere. There's admittedly been a lot of mucking around in the last 2 but it's been set up really well for the next book. From the Wall to KL to Dany there's heaps of stuff happening and ready to be resolved one way or another.

I could deal with that.

I recently found the article below on 'cracked'.  Has anyone heard these theories?  The last one in particular is crazy believable.  I won't post the article, only the link as it is potentially a MASSIVE SPOILER.  This way people who don't want to know can ignore it!

Any thoughts on these - especially from interested book readers?

R+L = J has been around for ages.

I have a theory that Jon is the son of Rob and Cersi, remember when she is telling the story of how she lost her first son when Bran is originally fighting for his life. I think Edard realises that the kids life is in danger from the Lanisters and they fake his death and Ed takes him back to Winterfel saying he is his ■■■■■■■.

The age fits for that to be the case also

Nah, Cersei couldn't bare to have any of Robert's children. I think it's mentioned in the books, everytime Robert got her pregnant, she had an abortion before he could find out.

Nah, Robert didn't marry Cersei until after the sacked Kings Landing and the rebellion ended. The Lannister's didn't commit to either side until the rebellion had won the major battles (mainly the Battle of the Trident), and then Tywin stormed KL, Jamie did what he did (Kingslayers gonna kingslay), Ned showed up and thanked the Lannisters for their help, Tywin killed the dragon babies he could (they were at Dragonstone but he got the Mountain to sort that out).

It was after all of this and the war was over that Robert wed Cersei as a thanks to Tywin, and Ned was Lord of Winterfell he wasnt hanging around KL waiting to sneak an unwanted heir away...

Regarding R+L=J

[spoiler]

As for the R+L=J, I think it's probably true but I just don't think it will
be important. Maybe he can ride a dragon if he lives long enough to meet one.
Maybe he can warg into one? Maybe it just means he is the one prophecised to
kill the white walkers/others? GRRM doesn' really go for perfect prophecies
though...

Thanks Bomberjay. Liked those theories. Some silly but you never know. That last one does seem logical. Liked the last sentence "You now know the ending at least a decade for anyone else will."

I think there's a whole lot more to the series than just who should sit on the Iron Throne. I think that's kind of the point too. Don't get caught up in this battle for the throne when you have white walkers and winter goming to get you, there's more to life.

I'm sure the basic theory will prove to be correct, but I don't think it's 'the ending', not even close.

What I will be most amazed with is how all of the other issues are resolved - if they are to be resolved.
