Something poetically sad about seeing Joe Dan play his 200th with Mckenna on the lions list going in to the finals series, mean while Dyson doesn’t even play a farewell game in front of a home crowd having to suffer through one last game with the club on its hands and knees again staring down the barrel of a gun

I don’t think the Lions need percentage. Just a solid win and no injuries leading into the finals will be fine with them.
They have been a poor goal kicking team this season too. Worse than us (we’re actually better than them).
So I expect them to kick all the tough goals and have their best goal kicking night against us.
I expect we’ll be competitive for the first half and squander our chances.
Anything below a 30 point loss would be a good result.

Just saw the Daniher article on the AFL website. Had no idea this is his milestone game - 200.
Will be very interesting to see how the end of game celebratory send off goes with Heppell’s final game and Daniher’s 200th coinciding.

I’m looking forward to tonight as I won’t be torn with part of me wanting a loss for the better draft pick. Win or lose we will have pick 9 (8 + Ashcroft) in the draft unless there is some serious funny business with the Josh Battle contract. No way a team pays to far overs given the implications on their future ability to retain stars.
I do wish we had some more youngsters playing to get them AFL experience, but on the other side of the coin it will allow the coaches to see those still awaiting contracts one more time before the decision is made at seasons end including Stringer, Laverde, Kelly, Guelfi and Shiel (as a potential trade). Assuming Jones had another year added via a trigger.

In honour of Dysons final game I expect the guys to really enjoy the game today. Lots of smiles and hugs, a few laughs. A few healthy tears and shakas at the end. All signs of good healthy mental wellbeing.
All while losing by 120 points.

I reckon this team will throw up a classic, inspid end of year performance to farewell Dyson in classic Essington style. Lions by 75+. Fill ya boots night for the Lions pre finals.
I can’t wait to see Hobbs on a flank, and the defensive masterminds in Laverde, McGrath, Kelly, Redman and McGrath all shat their dacks at the sheer amount of ball coming in.
