The first UK jet plane was the Gloster E28/39. I think Ze Germans got one in the air earlier.
When I was a kid I could name model numbers by year for the main WW2 aircraft - brother got me into making the airfix and revell models - dozens of them - forgotten nearly all of it now!
Plus used to read war comic books which were going strong in the 70s.

I didn’t read them but was aware of Eagle comics and had in my mind Dan Dare spent his time fighting Nazis - but I thought i should check that and it turned out I was wrong.
Hence my answer above to that question was google assisted. Not sure if that is allowed?

We mostly had Commando comics but there were a few others I think. We had piles of them. They’d probably be worth something if they had been thrown out decades ago! Plus they were never kept mint…
