Thank you for admitting you’re wrong. You’ve just done it in a convoluted way.

You’ve said above Israelis are complicit. You’ve said they have responsibility. You’ve said that they ignore. This is very different to the original post that deliberately implies they all have the hobby of killing children, which is a disgusting assertion. You can’t even defend what you posted, instead trying to make a different argument.

I’m flagging it.

In Percy’s defence Netanyahu has been elected 6 times over 20 years. That says something about a mainstream Israel that can’t be ignored. And it isn’t just his war footing that’s extremely questionable, or confirmed internationally criminal. Most societies in that ‘milieu’ would be collectively insane to some degree, I have no doubt about that.

No, Ants, I didn’t admit that I was wrong in supporting Dr Finkelstein’s assertion. He is a person of honour, in contrast with the current majority in Israel.

As I said, Israeli society is governed by an elected majority government. Their military and a significant section of their community are directly complicit in the ongoing murder of Palestinian civilians and, worse, the children of those Palestinians. In many cases, these children have been shot deliberately so as to cause them maximum pain. This is sadistic genocide, perpetrated in the name of Israel. Israeli society, in allowing this situation to continue, is complicit as a whole.

Flag all you like, son, to hide the truth, but if you stand by and accept these actions, you, too, are complicit.

Maybe this needs reposting.

Good? I think not. Maybe it makes her look slightly less bad.

Again you move the goal posts. Your graphic didn’t say/imply Israeli’s are complicit. If it had, I would have had far less of an issue (probably none). I think there is a strong argument in democracies that those voting people carry some of the weight of the government’s actions. Possibly to the extent of making civilians military targets.

Back to the refugee boats analogy (which you seemed to completely misunderstand) I’d have a problem with someone saying I was at fault when I voted against Howard. I’d have to say I was complicit when the Labor government I voted in didn’t change tact.

But your graphic didn’t say that. It conflated the Israeli people with having a hobby of killing children. The clear implication was your average Israeli likes to go out a few times a year and kill children for fun as a hobby. That is nowhere near the same as saying they’re complicit or responsible. Which is what you try and justify the graphic with when that isn’t the issue.

Back to the boats analogy, it’s the difference between saying I’m complicit when I voted Labor in and that I enjoy locking up refugee families for years and (mentally as a minimum) torturing them. The first is a justifiable argument. The second is not.

And given the historical racism towards Jews of conflating the worst actions of a few onto the entire majority, the graphic is incredibly problematic.

Your last sentence deliberately confuses the issue: “historical racism towards Jews” has nothing to do with the original post which you flagged for removal. You say you don’t care who wrote the post, even though it was written by Norman Finkelstein. You obviously don’t know who he is. Here are the first couple of paragraphs from his Wikipedia biography:

Norman Gary Finkelstein (born December 8, 1953) is an American political scientist and activist. His primary fields of research are the politics of the Holocaust and the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.

Finkelstein was born in New York City to Jewish Holocaust-survivor parents. He is a graduate of Binghamton University and received his Ph.D. in political science from Princeton University. He has held faculty positions at Brooklyn College, Rutgers University, Hunter College, New York University, and DePaul University, where he was an assistant professor from 2001 to 2007. In 2006, the department and college committees at DePaul University voted to grant Finkelstein tenure. For undisclosed reasons the university administration did not tenure him, and he announced his resignation after coming to a settlement with the university.

Finkelstein rose to prominence in 2000 after publishing “The Holocaust Industry,” a book in which he writes that the memory of the Holocaust is exploited as an ideological weapon to provide Israel a degree of immunity from criticism. He is a critic of Israeli policy and its governing class. The Israeli government barred him from entry to the country for ten years in 2008. Finkelstein has called Israel the “Jewish supremacist state”, and views it as committing the crime of apartheid against the Palestinian people. Through personal accounts in one of his books, he compares the plight of the Palestinians living under Israeli occupation with the horrors of the Nazis. Finkelstein’s most recent book on Palestine and Israel, published in 2018, is “Gaza: An Inquest into Its Martyrdom.”

There’s no point in discussing this further, unless you ask to have the original post restored so that other Blitzers can see what we’re talking about, and appreciate your basic intellectual dishonesty. Even then it would probably be a pointless exercise…

You will find that the leading Israelian opposition party has the same foreign policy goals as the current Government. So the people may not have a choice.

Well this doesn’t prove that the IDF target children but they sure as hell target journalists and as we have seen in the past aid workers and people delivering food etc.

My basic intellectual dishonesty? You won’t even debate what the meme actually says and implies.

I don’t care who is quoted because (a) I suspect they didn’t personally create and distribute the meme, (b) I have no idea of the context of their original comments the quote may have appeared in, (c) I have no idea if they endorse the meme and (d) plenty of “insiders” can be racist/sexist/conservative against their own group.

It is very strange. I never once said Israel isn’t committing genocide (@courtneyjohns666). I’ve not said they don’t target children (@Shahid_Afridi) or journalists (@MaxPower). In fact, I’ve not defended Israel at all. I’ve even said @percebushby’s comments that Israelis (and Israeli society) have responsibility for the children deaths as completely fair.

My issue is a meme that can be easily read as implying Israeli society (which lets face it, implies all Israelis) make a hobby of killing children. And I note nobody, including @percebushby, has really defended that position.

Oh. The article I posted wasn’t directed at you. That was posted today by Al Jazeera, so I wasn’t digging up an old article to prove a point or anything. I kinda get what both you and Perce are saying, but I will say it wouldn’t be something I would post as it would be highly offensive to any Israeli that was against what their government was doing. And there are many of them.
