How far was that shot?

From memory that was a touch under 100.

One good thing about the terrible new BOM site is most of the regulars down on the Peninsula who usually clog the Sunday fairways cannot access the old radar and missed the 3 hour gap in the rain where I managed to play a stressless solo round, a genuine weekend rarity. Some started to arrive just as I finished, just in time for the start of the lightning and thunder show. Thankyou BOM for producing such a useless site and at least for a time making the old radar accessible.

Photos are really hard to tell. It could have been 210!

I assume you went at the pin and the body reflexively pulled it?

This is better now the bom has bombed

I use a 7 hybrid from anywhere up to 120, trouble is when I really flush it i can fly it over 130 so that can be an issue. But at around 100 to 110 I can just play a nice easy swing and i have so much more control. In fact all hybrid clubs, I think the secret is to not over swing , you just need a good tempo and the club does all the work

Yep, spot on. I think we all try and over hit at times without letting the club do the work. They are designed to do the right thing but we just stupidly try and over hit causing our ā€˜hacking’ issues

Just a massive hook. Distance wise was a little long. I’d guess I closed off the face a lot because I’m prone to leaving it open and slicing. Struggling for consistency a lot but it is early days for me still I guess.

Interesting to see Devom Smith now playing off +3.

Interesting to see what the new handicap system does to handicaps. In my estimation a modern +3 is equivalent to about 2 or 3 in the old system.

My 24 on the old system is 24 on the new system.

That doesn’t suit my argument, so I will just make the assumption that short handicaps get shorter!

(Mine also didn’t change, but if I look at its calculations a previous handicap would have been ~3 different (that might have been handicaps before a previous update to the system so who knows))

My 26 on the old system will likely to be 30 soon. Unfortunately nothing to do with the systems :face_with_tongue:

So after 9 years of not being a member and retirement looming it was time 4 weeks ago to rejoin a club.

Tried to dodge my old handicap of 6 but nothing I could do so that’s it.

Got myself some new G440 gear 3 hybrid and 4 wood … they are both easy way to hit.. no more 3 iron 200m and the 4 wood gets out around 230m .

Been practicing and in the gym getting my body right for about 8 weeks.

Played my first seniors vardon event last week at a local course Par 64 Had 74 with 2 triples and a double …they play most weeks all across Sydney

Just got to get golf fit and should be back to where I left off

Have the goal of being top 40 next year which gets a gig at the Australian and Royal Sydney my mate tells me!

Very nice.

Anyone here playing in the EFC Day at $450? I thought about it then declined.

I’ve nearly done it in previous years but I had no money.

I’d probably do it if it was at a sandbelt club just so I could play the course.

Anyone on here use a stand on buggy? Looks like I’m about to get some bad news regarding my lungs but that was the working life I chose so just have to deal with it. Gonna try my first 9 holes tomorrow in about 6 weeks. Relatively flat with only 3 easy , normally, inclines. Breathing is getting hard just walking about the house so I know I’ll struggle. No hire buggies where we play so I’ve been looking online at some new model stand ons. Any info would be greatly appreciated fellas.

What’s the best way to brag about my 1st ever brilliant EAGLE I got on a par 4, chipped in about 110m. after a incredible drive. I’ve started with anyone can get an eagle on a par 5 (probably got the wind) but the only thing I can come up with is that it’s half a hole in one.
