I think that order, Portsea, Flinders, Mornington, but you canāt really go wrong
Bastard!
Only just started carrying a mobile, a hand me up from my daughter, and received this touching text from my Better Half when half way down the 5th at the local yesterday.
āGET OFF THE ā ā ā ā ā ā ā GOLF COURSE!!!ā Hmmm.
Admittedly there was quite a bit of electricity in the air but I tried to explain to her later that the sound and light show was a tad more spectacular where she was. She wasnāt convinced. I also told her there were plenty of others out there. I wonāt repeat her slanderous reply concerning such golfers.
Our Club eventually called off all golf from about midday yesterday due to lightning in the Kew vicinity. Seems to be a standard safety measure these days. Better safe than sorry.
Has anybody seen those John Daly - Tucker Carlson interviews? Man, John Daly is a unit
Yeah, full MAGA.
Far from alone on the US golf tours, unfortunately
Was watching the Australian Open on the final day and during the first play off hole between Niemann and Hoshino I am sure I saw Hoshino lightly strike sand in the bunker during a practice swing as I saw the sand spray in slow motion. The match would have been over there and then if this had been picked up, but the hole was halved and they played the second play off hole.
Iām so happy that Niemann won .-
Portsea for sure
Howdy helpful and knowledgeable blitz golfers!
I have previously mentioned a trip for the peninsula, starting to get dates etc booked in - will be October 2024 - just wondering where a good central location to stay would be?
Will be about 5 days and trying to play all the must play courses - smartest area for base camp?
Also, is the ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento worthwhile? At the end of the golf trip my partner will be bringing the car up via the spirit for another week or so.
Both Cape Schank and Moonah Links have accomodation options attached to the course. Have stayed at both but not for a few years. Could be pricey!? However, this would mean you are fairly central to all the best golf courses the Peninsula has to offer. Where are you intending to play? If you havenāt considered it, please look into playing at St Andrews!
Taking the ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento is certainly worth it if you donāt want to drive all the way around the bay and through the city. Itās only a short trip but depends on what youāre happy to pay to take the car over.
Course list not finalised but all the good ones in the area will be played.
Accommodation will most likely be on the cheaper side - so just looking for the suburb / area that will be nice and central to all the normal coursesā¦
Anything worth playing in Bendigo area? Going to be there for a couple of days in January.
Maybe just out the back of Rye then.
i usually stay in rosebud. couple of cheap enough hotels around there
Iāve stayed in holiday parks whenever Iāve gone down that way. Unfortunately the wi-fi / mobile reception seems to be terrible in that whole area.
Also another question - is Lonsdale Links worth a ferry crossing? Does it offer something different than the closer courses?
itās a really nice course, but not much different to the peninsula ones
played at st andrews beach today. absolutely lovely course, probably one of my fav ever, but fk me the howling wind made it a nightmare round
shot 112. 58 of those were putts. mental
West Rosebud (or Capel Sound as its fancily known as now) would be a good option for pricing & location.
Boneo Rd gets you out the back to CS, Flinders & Moonah easily. Nepean Hwy to Rosebud & Portsea.
Note the majority of restaurants, cafes & grocery stores are in the bayside burbs, (Dromana, Rosebud, Capel Sound, Rye & Sorrento). its pretty sparse Oceanside apart from Flinders & thatās limited. Wineries are scattered throughout, esp around Red Hill.
Worth doing the ferry over to the Bellarine Peninsula for a day trip, Barwon Heads is a nice beachside town & plenty of wineries there as there is with Mornington Peninsula.
