Woosha – final moments or finals moment?

wrong thread?

x1

find the next clarkson. easy to say, but we’re going to have be bold if we turf worsfold. he was the safe option at a time we needed it, we need to lead the pack now, not just tack on to what’s worked in the past.

Id want to hope that there is a succession plan post John whenever it does occur.

Over this sacking business. I dont want to see the club go full Carlton/StKilda/Norf.

I was pretty disappointed how we started the season… Especially from a fitness stand point.

Given all the media this week.
I’m thinking if we lose to Gws John will be gone.

We want to get in on the coaching chase

Hope we get Caracalla.

Knowing us, we will have the new coach lined up when woosha is sacked.

Knowing us, we will go after “the best coach in Australia - not just the best available” and end up with someone who is not even the best coach in the VFL.

Seen lots of stats in the last few weeks - They nearly all show we are mid-table for most of the key performance indicators - And we are around mid-table on the ladder - It’s no coincidence.

I’d be happy with just getting the best coach(es) for the players we have at this point in their development, rather than any kind of ‘get the best coach in the afl - need to win a flag next yr’ thinking.

I reckon the whole ‘royal box’ approach the club has had has been half our problem. How many ex-senior coaches have we had at the club in the last 10 years, because some numpty board members thought it would be a good idea to recruit them based on senior experience rather than a proper vetting process?

Have a 3 to 5 year plan and recruit a smart young, energetic coach who’ll grow with the team… not in a Brendan Bolton ‘our love for each other has grown and that’s more important than winning’ way, but in a way that still focuses on W/L percentages improving each yr.

Underachieving? We’ve achieved nothing.

■■■■ Reynolds , a great coach in the 40’s but had lost it by the late fifties

John Coleman. Many say our finest coach but ill health cut short his coaching career

Jack Clarke, A innovative and intelligent coach who at the end didn’t have the playing personnel.

John Birt. Nice guy but 11th position ended his tenure after one year.

Des Tuddenham., Did install some zest back into the club. His coaching methods however soon wore thin.

Bill Stephen. A good interim appointment. His mentoring style helped to develop a young list.

Barry Davis. Had the talent. Didn’t deliver…

Kevin Sheedy. A cultural changer who demanded success, planned for it and got it. Should have left after 2004.

Matthew Knights. What were they thinking? He did got us into a final. But in the John Birt category.

James Hird. Tragic end. Could have been one of our great coaches

Bomber Thompson. Did a great job under enormous pressure, both personal and professional

John Worsfold. Was the man for 2016. But otherwise Barry Davis reincarnated

Its almost like the players are just “going through the motions” with few players improving significantly , few players getting worse week on week.

Believe there has been improvements which are not reflected by wins and losses - Key issue is the third to fifth year players have not improved as much as we hoped.

During the Gold Coast / GWS domination of draft years & the saga…sure Sheeds was the boss early… yer, nah disagree.

Recruiting has not been too bad at all. In fact the 2s are 2nd on the VFL ladder despite all the injuries & there is at least 1/2 dozen lining up to play AFL in the next couple of years. If we can snaffle another ruckman next year and keep turning the list over to see if we can jag another AGrade mid, JW is right, we will be in the mix. So Doro has done his role ok I reckon, its not the recruiting thats the issue, we have plenty of talent @ Bomberland IMO

You reckon, need more information. We’ve already got a disaster.

Hard for a lot of those players to show improvement if they are not being played regularly.

In before people blame loss to Giants on injuries.

They are missing 4-5 of their best 22.

Whitfield, Ward, Haynes, De Boer and Corr

In before people bag Woosha for not saying anything in the presser. Or for answering questions that he’s asked. Or for breathing.

He doesn’t need to say a damn thing!

We won’t know, but it would be nice to know where the coaches have the team on “Playing The Way We Need To Play” scale.

Are we a 5? Or more like a 8 and that it’s just a tweak or two to have it all clicking?

And if still needs a player or two to get us there, or we have the listed required?

And if the timeline was 2019, or more like 2021 and the best 22 to get us there is still getting the experience required?

Sorry Bomb, but the “playing the way we need to play” scale is on a “need to know” basis. And the coaching staff need to know where we are at before we need to know.

It could be a while.

Sounds like it’s not worth me writing to Woosha.
