Hardingham

Sorry I couldn't find any other topic in the new forum.

I am going to go out on a limb after watching the replay.

IF...that's a big if...If somebody taught this kid (23) how to kick set shot goals and snaps, he would be good for 3+ goals a game and be a superstar forward.

At the moment he puts himself in amazing goal opportunity moments even though you can tell he dreads kicking for goal, imagine how many opportunities he'd give himself if he had confidence in his kicking for goal.

He's worth another season, train him to kick goals and he'd be really handy and atm he's shown better than Merrett or Jetta up forward, also has the excitement factor that we really lack lately up forward with no Hurley. Would at least feel happier kicking to him jumping in front of his opponent on a lead than davey coming out of chf as if we're going to be delivering horrible kicks to a fwd, it may as well be one who can jump really high...

Someone teach him to kick ffs. Change it up. His swirl it around, front on, slice it off to the right technique is flawed. Re-invent it from scratch. I named him in my best 22 at the start of the season as an x factor up forward. He could have had 3 easy last night. As the 4th or 5th forward, I think he has value as an x factor. His tackles stick. He can apply defensive pressure.

Agree. I thought he actually did really well yesterday (besides missing goals). He lead up to the wings took marks, played that mid-sized forward role we have missed since we departed with monfries

Get Winderlich to teach him while he's resting, best kick for goal in the afl.

tries hard but his skills are ■■■■. he’s not best 22 in my opinion but im happy to be proven wrong, but I see him as a depth player

I don’t think we want forward pocket and HFF specialists in the team.

Just my opinion but I think TRB are looking to having a few key position players forward then resting midfielders in the remaining spots.

We don’t need a forward pocket specialist, we need someone who can run through the midfield then rest up forward and kick a few. Hence the reason why Davey isn’t a walk up start right now.

Hardy is an exciting prospect but I just can’t see him getting a regular gig in our forward line. Pity, he would be great to watch,

very good post. Very few great small forwards in AFL,better to have extra guys through the midfield that can go forward and jag a few

I like Hardingham, and hope that he stays next year and beyond. He is a great contested ball player, whether in the air or on the ground. Those strong legs and big ■■■■ come in handy against the bigger bodied teams. Yes his kicking is ■■■■■, but I take a player like Hardy who can win his own ball but butcher it occasionally, than a skilled front runner who goes missing when the heat is on.

Don't disagree with much there. But fk me he can cost us sometime when the blowtorch is on against really good sides. Shudder to think at what he could do to our hopes of winning a match in a final if he really put his mind to a brainfart.

We must keep Hardingham. His athleticism and, more importantly, his competitive spirit are valuable. He is one of too few who will ‘swim against the tide’.

Keep him forward!

Lets face it, if this guy could kick, he would never have made it to a pre season draft. His athleticism, his leap, his marking, his ground work, his competitiveness... all top shelf.

But he can't kick. And it's an issue.

He can kick, sometimes very well. The problem is he isn't consistent, and apt to stuff up at the critical moment.
I love Hardy. I'd like to see him stay. I reckon he's just about the most crazy desperate player in the team. His high marking is a great weapon, and his one percenters - directly related to his competitiveness - are great. Just not sure when he fits in, but think there's a place.

Hardingham has a few flaws he needs to delete from the repertoire.

1. He's a great mark, takes a great leap, but he also regularly goes too far under the ball in attempting to mark. Misses too many that way.

2. He is prone to kicking off one foot. He's not the only one, but it results in a lack of penetration of the kick and is often mis-kicked. Terrible error across a backline.

3. His set shot. It's been said above.

He gets his hands on it enough it seems, he's strong and he's agile enough and seems to have enough pace.

I've been saying all season long I wish we would give him some game time. I sincerely hope he isn't traded come season end, he has spark. Why we continually played Leeroy instead of Kyle is cray.

Can't kick/mark or handle pressure. Trade/Delist.

If he plays forward again we really are farked.

He can be a handy defender at times but do not play him forward.
