Head to Head to Head

Okay, it has been a few years now since l put up one of these. This one l have mulled over posting for a couple of years, at least. lf we pause to consider our greatest losses of talent at EFC then the stand out is at # 1 is Coleman, followed at # 2 by Neale Daniher. However, in recent years who else have we lost that we would consider # 3? l will be back later to add my own two cents worth.

Rioli is one of the best footballers I've seen.

Rama In my mind. Was the midfielder we were crying out for over the middle of the last decade.

Dean was a super player too but I don’t think he did everything he could like Watson has for example which is why I’m giving rama the nod. That may be unfair on rioli

Rama.

Deano.

I thought Cupido.

Was my favourite as a kid and could do almost anything on the field.

You talk about X-factor, this guy had it in spades.

Would love for us to find another one like him but unfortunately they don’t grow on trees.

Surely rollo by a length!

On talent, I'd have to say Cupido. Thought we'd really found someone after his first year at the club, particularly the Anzac Day game when he bagged 5 goals. As with most bludgers though, he got found out once he got injured and didn't do the required work to get back to full fitness. Disappeared very quickly.

Rama's relatively short career was obviously beyond his control (like Coleman, Neale Daniher), but the other three in the poll, especially Cupido and Lovett, pretty much had a hand in their own footy demise.

Can’t go past Rioli. Had the ball on a string and danced around other player like he was MJ in the 80s

Scott Gumbleton.

Imagine a Gumbleton that didn't get injured, he would now be in his prime with 150 games under his belt. Clunking all night long. We would win the flag this year.

Rioli.

He had more talent than anyone I have ever seen. Ever

Rama.

Rioli, Cupido and Lovett  all could've made it but for reasons inside their control never did.

Rama was a brilliant talent who didn't get the shot the others did.

Dean Rioli was the most talented player on that list without a doubt. Had all the tricks, sublime delivery, and a top shelf football IQ.

I cant remember who it was, but I'm sure he laid a SBW style shoulder charge on some opposition muppet once and I remember thinking there was nothing he could not do.

Rama.

Rama was a gun, no doubt.

Rama or Lovett

Rioli. Absolutely sublime.

Roger Merrett.

Rama. Was going to be an elite, top few in the comp style mid who would have been tough to beat with his leap and agility. Plus he wasnt ■■■■■■■ lazy so the loss of actual potential is real instead of based on the player possessing a different personality

Rioli hands down.
