neo-grunge?
Yeah…but Yoko Ono?
not really a hot take, just got some surprising advice from a dentist yesterday.
so: spend more than 60 seconds brushing your teeth and your likely doing more damage that good. wrecking your gums or enamel.
you only need to brush your teeth once a day in Australia really. Unless I guess you really pound the sugar. it’s better for your gums(see above). Perhaps thats different if your an anti fluoride cooker or have some other problem with decay.
the most important dental hygiene practice is actually flossing. If you want good teeth floss properly about 3 times a week.
chew sugar free gum and drink water to ensure your mouth stays on the alkaline side of things in terms of PH is one of if not the best thing you can do.
most other dentist stuff is a complete rip off.
And eat bamboo, great for your teeth.
Yeah it was a dull conversation with a specialist dentist.
But still eye opening as it flys in the advice you get from your run of the mill guy and what’s taught at school.
I read somewhere years ago that it’s actually better to brush your gums than your teeth, and I’ve confirmed that with several dentists. Of course, it’s impossible to brush your gums without also brushing the bottom parts of your teeth, so you’re really brushing both; and you can only brush the gums very lightly or you’ll scratch them. But it really does work. You’ll never have gum problems, and you don’t get food particles accumulating around the bottoms of the teeth.
And you are 100% right about flossing, especially if, like me, you have a lot of fillings. The material they use for fillings now doesn’t expand like the old amalgam ones, so you get narrow crevices between teeth where anything fibrous will get stuck. Pixters are good too.
Maybe. Certainly if you touch the gums with the brush do so lightly.
I was seeing a periodontist for receded gums from over brushing. Too much pressure.
He said he advises to everyone he sees.
No more than 60 seconds of brushing and once a day. Basically he said if you dont have a record of tooth decay/fillings why would you?
The flossing properly gets the stuff out which damages your gums.
Wafer ice cream cones are the original and still the BEST.
Waffle cones were simply an attempt (successful) to drive up the cost of ice creams by Big Ice.
Feeding a kid a wafer cone is analogous to force-feeding them a soggy cardboard cup. It is like giving them PTSD about when they were last forced to eat a communion wafer at church after an hour and a half of extreme boredom and should be branded a form of child abuse.
Those are ■■■■
If that word starts with s or y, I agree!
This in single or double
Grinspoon are better than The Strokes.
I mean…way better.
Im not a huge fan of either, but its an excellent assessment.
Couldn’t agree more.
To me that period in the early-mid 00’s when acts like The Strokes, The White Stripes, The Vines, farking Kings of Leon were being hailed as if they were the discovery of Christ’s foreskin is one of the most uninteresting periods of music ever. That can be my Hot Take (or Unpopular Opinion)…
I never would have thought to compare the two at all, I guess similar era but that’s about it.
But as you did, I’m going with couldn’t disagree more. Which given your take was the ‘hot’ one, I guess mine is a cool take.
Edit…I should add to this. I never, ever liked Grinspoon. As a male that grew up in regional vic in the late 90’s early 2000s, I think that position might be rare.
Just did not rate them at all. DCx3 is legit one of the shittest songs ive ever heard.
Wouldn’t be a hot take if it was popular.
Edit: and I think they cover similar ground.
It’s not like I’m comparing Bowie to Pistols here.
Since the issue of not liking popular bands has been raised, l will just say that l have never ever rated AC/DC. I have never had a single one of their songs on a playlist and l never will.
Is that a hot take? Too bad if it isn’t.
My daughter had me listen to The Strokes. I had two reactions:
- They are a lesser version of The Velvet Underground.
- Their singer has an extremely annoying voice.
