Injury Updates (Part 1)

Q2-Q4 we have been more free and direct. I get what you’re saying but the extra run has been a big part of it. Players look to be playing more free and without expectations. With the senior players available, we play slow and stagnant footy.

That would be a 5 year stint. Only 17 games in 2020 and he missed two through suspension.

forgot was shortened season.

Yeah I agree with everything here - we might get a little worse with injuries but we are only really dropping from 11th to 15th at the end of the day so its just a small decrease - and realistically we could have finished 15th with all those guys available anyway - just more reasons to hit the draft hard again and keep turning the list over till we find players that can take the team forward

Not even sure we are getting worse. We are playing better sides now and being more competitive than we were with all those tall players in the side.

I asked Matt Rosa and RFK during midseason online meeting whether the change of game style is forced upon the club due to injuries or planned change.
They said it was a planned change. This is in line with Scott’s version of “evolution of the team.”

I call bullshit, we were never going to change our super tall team unless injuries intervened.

Only the inner circles know!

Seriously, none of Ridley, Reid, Draper, McKay, Bryan or Jones were going to be dropped. If Cox was available, he’d probably be in the team also.

Brad’s love for taller players is undeniable.

Player complains of tightness. So they list him as a test.
Player gets MRI confirming a strain. So they pull him out and list him as 4 weeks.

No need for conspiracy theories. It’s really quite simple.

Said this a month or so back. The silver lining with all those injuries might be that Scott finally realises we play better football without so many talls.

Can’t see any world where Jones or Cox goes back to a wing over Clarke now.

I’m sure they’ll still go with the 3 talls in defence.

But maybe a more mobile forward line is on the cards? (Though we’ll probs need to move on one of Draper/Bryan/Wright or BS will opt to play all 3 next year, no doubt)

Faaarrrrkkk me. Avoid watching a replay of Jack Payne’s knee injury if you can.

Another tall gone?
Gerreyn looks to have done a shoulder

Jones and McKay now both TBC, not progressing as expected.

McKay was running laps at training today.

That’s really Essendon code for “See you next year”

“[Ben McKay] the same. (He’s) unable to tolerate running load at the moment, so it’s not a short-term thing unfortunately.”

I’m just quoting the article which was from Brad’s interview, maybe he was testing it?

Then he was a crucial piece in a premiership not long after.
