Injury Updates (Part 1)

Wait a minute.

This does seem awfully convenient timing that “senior players” are now voicing that they have serious issues when conducting a review.

This isn’t a soft launch by the club that a bunch of S&C and medical people are about to be moved on, is it? A “guys, start updating your LinkedIn and resumes” sort of thing.

Easy enough to tee it up as a panel show talking point.

We deserve everything we get. If players leave it’s on the Board and CEO. They had the chance at the end of 2022 following “The Review” to get rid of that hopeless team headed up by Murphy. Why the heck wasn’t this addressed when it needed to, along with the lack of recovery facilities. It’s beyond a joke. These were known knowns.

It would be interesting where it’s all coming from, I wouldn’t mind guessing it isn’t actually from the players but from somewhere higher up at the club.

But it sounds like the kind of thing that the club and everyone uses as evidence they are making changes etc.

Players complain about S&C when they are already being reviewed/likely changed. So the club makes a change and ups investment and then everyone is happy and we wait to see if anything actually changes.

Perhaps a bit of messaging from a few parties saying ‘we suck because of S&C, fix that and we will be all good’.

I don’t know, just feels like complaining about something that is already changing.

Wont be losing much if Langford move clubs imo

Honestly, I’d welcome most of those players requesting a trade. By and large they are overrated, on long-term contracts and continually fail when it’s time to stand up and be counted. Get some extra draft capital in spread across this year and next year. Start again and continue to invest in youth. Of course we need to overhaul the fitness and conditioning team, but if we can purge some bad contracts do it.

I feel another saga chapter coming on soon. Maybe its going to be a thing every 13 years

My concern is will this effect the youngers player if guys like Langford decide to leave do to injury mangement issue

They might question thier own career do i want stick around and have my career reuined injury

I think it would be stating the obvious that those injured and with repeat injuries are frustrated and losing faith in the high performance department of the club! I would be! The club should just focus on assessing the situation and putting actions in place to correct this clusterfcuk.

100%.

If they’re unhappy, get them out. ASAP.

We don’t need any more cancerous types. Had enough over the last decade.

They have every right to question this “high performance program” (ha!), absolutely, and by the sounds of things there will be change at the end of the season … but don’t hold the club to ransom in any way.

Why the ■■■■ has it taken so long for them to do so?

Exactly. The Review was end of 2022.

Good. I really think most of these injuries are due to the low standards these senior players have been setting for years.

Langford can go and play in the VFL for another side

Whay If Zac Reid does the same?

He just re-signed for 3 years. And you can’t request a trade the season that you signed a new deal.

Be interesting what was actually recommended.

They had some external experts from other successful teams look over it and advise.

Yeah but he might question that now been at the club for 4 years and they cant get me on the park

This players unrest is not good could have a ripple effect on the entire playing group. We could have clubs poaching our younger players promising they wont be injured at their club.

He’s played 19 games in 5 years and got a 3-year deal out of it. He won’t be going anywhere. As for the rest, they’ve been stealing a living by and large. Got big money and delivered ■■■■ all for this club. If any of them want to leave, I’d help clear out their lockers.

He had a chance to do that before he signed Nino.

The club needs to fix how ■■■■ it is at everything.

Anyone wanting to jump ship, fucken see you later. You’re with us for the fight to improve and become something, or against us at the end of the day. Some of the older players haven’t exactly been setting standards at the place.

I have no issues with them wanting to leave I’m worried how this will effect the younger players

Major ■■■■ up moving to the hangar, extra driving, combined with no history and a shot team environment and conditioning / recovery program leaves absolutely no incentive for players to come and or stay. Oh did i mention lack of success. Rock Bottom, again.
