Injury Updates (Part 1002)

We managed to break Caddy within 30 AFL games.

The efficiency of that is almost impressive. Hopefully it now stops with Inness and co, though.

RIP Caddy.

The question is why are all our younger guys getting sore groins?

Lots of the other teams play young players all year without this happening, meanwhile multiple players at our club are going down with the same problems.

I will say, its nice to know Perkins didnt just forget how to play football this year and actually had reasoning for his poor form. He is much better than this year.

Surface related possibly, would be interesting to compare injury rates between windy Hill and the hangar

You give the club too much credit.

Johnson played the equivalent of two games over a 6 week period due to a combination of being held over emergency, sub and VFL byes, while Caddy and Clarke were selected for full games every week despite being obviously sore.

Short sighted team selection was the obvious driver rather than physical management of young players.

I agree entirely :+1:

Most Blitzers didn’t want to play injured players and weren’t on the Selection Panel that picked them.

I would expect the club to manage Caddy heavily through the season. No reason to flog him through 23 games. playing 75% of games, managed every 3/4 is no issue.

I call cattle manure.

We wanted kids to be played to see them perform at top level, replacing those others out of form or not up to it. No-one wanted the huge injury list and having key players out for weeks.

The problem is player development and maybe fitness and training loads. Remember when the Reserves team was all about development and getting senior games into players to grow skills, fitness and to learn about team structure. You have to be as old as me to remember that, as our Reserves have been forsaken by the Club for such a long time.

How are the early intra club scratch matches looking? There are going to be a few VFL and unlisted players filling out the numbers. No Bryan, Martin, Hayes, Edwards, Caddy already.

Caddy looks to be doing some pretty high end run throughs in footy boots, not runners.

Whatever slight deload is happening over the next week or two it is must be very much on the minor end.

Also, to my eye, Nik Cox looks a lot stronger in photos at least.

How about Perkins?

For clarity, was just going off social media posts.
Perkins wasn’t featured.

Take that OP!

Lol. Imagine if it was the cause. Shades of de Goey’s dog and Brayden Sier.

I think right now we have the following players injured/managed/recovering;-

Nick Bryan
Nic Martin
Thomas Edwards
Nik Cox
Sullivan Robey
Lewis Hayes

Am I missing anyone..?? Does anyone have any inside intell on when we could expect the above players to be ready to play - i.e. round 1 2026, mid year 2026 etc…

Isn’t Perkins under a big cloud……… possible groin?

Didn’t know Perkins was injured…hope its not serious…

Cox is in full training as noted by watchers

Robey would just be backed off now and resume full training post Xmas

Bryan appears to be ramping up training so might be an early season return

Other ACL trio unsure, Martin a setback (maybe)

Perkins potentially OP had been posted by someone on here, def a concern
