In 500 words or less, if you were able to travel back in time and were able to attend any game this weekend which would it be and why?
Round 1 1949 Essendon v Hawthorn @ Windy Hill.
Just to see whether this new full forward named Coleman would be any good for us.
2000 grand final - watched it on tv and loved every minute
but if its not a final then anzac day 2009 (the only anzac day match i have missed attending since 2004)
Probably the game where Dermie went through the huddle. I’d let the fellas know it was going to happen and have ‘plans in place’.
Can I be the bloke behind the goals that Hirdy hugs?
Round 1 1897 would be interesting !

You should miss ANZAC day more often
1984 Prelim Final win over Collingwood by 133 points.
A taste of things to come.
1993 GF… or the Prelim against Adelaide … fk it, … can I have them both?
Any match from Round 1, 1984 until Round 13, 1984. Just to see what Paul Salmon was like pre-knee reco. Kicked 63 goals in that time and 22 in his first 3 games of that season. Must’ve been a sight to behold!
1984 Grand Final. Never forgotten the feeling. That last quarter was something else, and it was the first time I attended a Grand Final. (I guess you never forget your first time)
Was so happy nearly fell off the balcony. (will take that again too)

So you want to be an accessory to murder? I like it

1966 World Cup final. Won’t ever happen again.
The first one

See sewell get crunched stick it to hawks supporters missing finals year after winning flag. And if not that anzac day 2009. still cant believe heaps of essendon supporters left at 3qtr time.
If could go back to any period of time pre my life I would like to see colemans debut game where he kicked twelve rd1 1949.
Coleman won b&f and vfl goal kicking in his debut year.
Or the 1949 premiership team defeat carlton- ■■■■ reynolds/ bill hutchinson and Coleman playing in a premiership side together.

1901 Semi Final.
In that low scoring era (yes, even lower than EFC’s 2016 side), Albert Thurgood playing CHF scored five of Essendon’s six goals to win us the game. Contemporaries said this was one of the best individual games ever.
Next week, he followed up to kick half of the team’s score to win yet another flag for Essendon. In that game - against Collingwood - one of his goals was scored with an 86-yard drop-kick, and another was scored with a 93-yard place-kick into a strong head wind.
For the young ones, even Fletch playing under the Etihad dome with no wind disadvantage never kicked the footy that FAR, let alone kick a goal that distance.
For a game I wasn’t in attendance, probably 84 Gf. In attendance then definitely the 93 preliminary.
