Can we not please.
If people keep making ■■■■ up - then they’ll keep getting called on it.
Mind you, for those that were here, we lived through the saga, day and night for years through this forum.
We poured over every article either digital or in print, watched every televised news brief or footy show spot and we listened to every radio segment.
Literally nothing saga related escaped this forum.
There are serious experts on this forum in every facet of what happened that is publicly known.
There are also people who…with respect…don’t know anywhere near as much about this topic as they might believe.
I asked nicely.
And how exactly did he blow up North? I get that people don’t rate/like him but let’s not make stuff up.
From my Norf mates, played favourites at the selection table and trade table, didn’t develop kids worth a damn, tore the heart out of the playing group delisting culture-defining veterans like Harvey in 2016. Was a knee-jerk reaction guy both on game day and from a list-building point of view, couldn’t make and stick to a long term plan, but thought he always knew best and didn’t tolerate being questioned. Quit Norf in 2019 with them sitting 3-7. They had the ‘coach is gone!’ bounce and won 7 games for the rest of the year to land 12th that year, but then his list management decisions caught up with them. They haven’t finished over 17th since.
Maybe he’s changed. Hope so.
Good to see James happy and getting on with life.
He would be a great asset to Port Melbourne footy club.
I mean he clearly made some mistakes as all coaches do. When you look at what Norf drafted from 2010 to 2017 it will have you feeling violently ill. Pretty hard to develop any kids when the ones drafted aren’t up to it from the get go.
So he made some tough decisions at the end of 2016 getting rid of Harvey and Co maybe that was a mistake but isn’t that the sort of ruthlessness that we ask for?
And Scott did tell the North board that he wanted to rebuild at the end of 2018 but the board said no and ended up trading their first to Port for Polec which landed them Butters. Along with picking up Pittard, Tyson and Hall.
Not having a pot at you as your info is from your Norf mates but some context matters.
Is this the same Brent Harvey who’s the all time games record holder? Sacked before his time was up!
That’s some serious revisionism, if Scott is seen as a bad guy for getting him to finally hang up the boots.
Exactly! Boomer wasn’t exactly known for his selflessness. They did make finals in 2016 so the easy out would have been to keep those mature guys and try to limp into finals again.
Now now Hirdy, no giving them any good ideas

they cried when he resigned…the players loved him.
People sometimes forget that James Hird was taken at pick 79 in the draft.
Which was just incredible drafting by Rosa.

Peos from the paint
Brad advised north to rebuild and they refused so he eventually bailed on them but he had wanted to rebuild earlier
The ones who cried were his favourites, they knew they were going to have to earn their positions
The club retired Harvey shortly after breaking the games record. Late in 2016.
I found it weird to do that when North had won the first 10 straight games and still finished the season in the top 8.
Someone at the club must have known they couldn’t get much more out of that list.
For memory, Scott wanted to go harder on the rebuild, but the club wouldn’t allow it.
If he gets another head coach role at AFL I’m just about ready to change clubs!!
North fan rivisionist rubbish. There’s a long media trail about Scott presenting the board the 3 options they had going forth and about how he recommended that the club needed to instigate a rebuild. The board disagreed, so Scott told them he needed to leave as he didn’t align with their want to top up and keep trying at finals success.
Fan conspiracy at the time was the board forced him out.
Time then tells that North very clearly should have started their rebuild right then and there.
