JLT v Filth - Review Thread

In all seriousness though, I thought we were pretty good.

Fanta and Smack on fire. Couldn’t have expected anything better from Green, he was everywhere. Ambrose and Kelly were great. Watson was Watson.

Much to like. Onto week two, whenever/whoever that is?

My biggest disappointment was Langford… really expected big things but he just didn’t seem to get clean possession or impact the game. Hoped for better to start his third season.

Happy enough; we clearly weren’t too fussed about winning given who we took off in the last qtr…was happy with McGrath, Fanta, Zerrett of course and McKernan was excellent.

Fantasia will kick 50 this year

Parish, Green, Fanta, Watson, Dys, Ambrose, zack all good
Few guys needed the run
McKernan needs to work on ruck craft

Good effort

But still gives away far too many frees.

McGrath looked good when he got near it.

Will be an incredibly dynamic player once he gains experience / a few pre-seasons.

Yep and rucking solo again struggles despite how hard he tries

We did good. Stoppage is a small concern but we’re rusty and trial a lot of different combos in there.
94 without Joe and Cale.
Zerret, Zaka def wasn’t running hard. Seen them jogging a lot in the background.
Backs needs chemistry.
Good contest.

  • Gleeson, Parish, Smack looked good.

Don’t know what you’re on about smj, Ambrose is ■■■■

Goddard Is bad. Real bad.

Didn’t get near it in last quarter. Disappointing.

Plenty of other positives from the game though.

Positives
Some saga guys got a run
We got through unscathed
Mcgrath looked composed at the afl level.
Fantasia on fire
Thought stewart contested Ok
Ambrose was good.

Lol. Darcy Moore just slayed us.

Meh, it was ok, should have won it with the team we had v the team they had, but it matters very little.

It was just great to see Jobe, Heppell, Hurley Colyer, Howlett and Myers back out there. Plenty of rust tonight, as expected.

Some thoughts:

  • If we play (and heaven forbid, win some) finals this year, it won’t be because of the returning 12. It will be because our young kids have gone another level.

  • Orazio is my favourite player by so far…

  • Not panicking at all, but Bags not only looked scratchy, he looked slow.

  • Mckernan is far too useful to this side to be on a rookie list.

  • We need some pace off half back, and we have too many small forwards. Hmm, I’m coming around to Wim’s way of thinking about Tippa.

  • hard to tell how the forward line looks without either of the two big guys, but geez our small guys look very dangerous.

  • Really, with our full midfield squad there, and Collingwood missing Pendles, Treloar etc, we shouldn’t have been so smashed in the middle.

Happy overall though, great to see some footy.

Stooper Goals won’t be a real thing once the season starts. That got them back in it from nowhere.

Good hit out. Lots of positive signs

Goddard Is bad. Real bad.
BJ has been so good for the club off field, and maybe he talks good talk on field, but his footy. Gosh.

Im genuinely gutted that we lost.

No injuries is a win in itself at this time of year honestly.
