that is the exact reason why i never understood why sydney wanted him. none of those traits would work well consistently at the scg.
he did say similar in a tv interview after his meeting with harley, so he sorta lost any trust most supporters had in his “words” about moving forward.
Speaking to Fox Footy post-game, fit-again Daniher said: “I feel really good and I got the training in, so I’ve been working hard.“Hopefully I can continue to play out this year and keep moving forward with this footy club.
“It has been frustrating but I just had to stick to the process and make sure that I got the injury right.
“The boys’ support has been fantastic so to come out and help them out tonight … it feels good.”
The pessimist in me focuses on Joe’s last sentence “help them out”. Not us - them. But that’s mainly because I believed him last year so I’m more cynical this time around.
Whatever happens with JoeDan happens.
Don’t set yourself up for disappointment people. Set expectations low. He’s leaving. If he stays, well, arguably that’s a bonus.
Just move on from him already and your life will be better for it.
Exzacery. Time will tell. Don’t fret about it.
tbh i’ll be disappointed if we don’t get an after our first round pick compo.
I’d be disappointed if we didn’t get pick 1.
How do you see that happening?
can’t be above our pick? and im under no delusion that we are favoured a la sydney.
Looks like I will be disappointed then.
If he decides to leave, provided he is getting paid enough to warrant us getting a pick after our 1st rounder (leaving us with 2 x top 10 picks), let him go and we’ll get some elite talent into the club quickly, provided Dodoro doesn’t stuff it up again ala Parish/FRANCIS, if we wont get a pick after our 1st rounder then match it as the price wont be too hefty anyway. He can stay and play for us or the club he wants to go to can trade for him. TBH I don’t care about Joe leaving, he’s a ■■■■■ kick for goal and too inconsistent. We always focus on what we’re missing out on when he’s at his best, but those games are too few and far between to worry about
Yeah let’s find a way to get the reigning Coleman medallist and a first round draft pick for a guy that’s barely played in 3 years.
Sounds fair.
Daniher requests to leave, we threaten to match the contract offer, Syd/Geel/Bris/Coll/whoever pay up and we get a 1st round.
We then sign Cameron as a FA, Giant’s probs can’t match any $$ amount.
ergo we have Cameron + 1st round (via Daniher trade)
Suits me.
Sounds good in theory, but if JC wants to leave and that’s a big if, we will be that last place he chooses. Honestly if leaves GWS, Geelong will be in the box seat not us because 1. They’re a way better side than us 2. It suits his lifestyle better (ie fishing) and 3. They’re a way better side than us.
Geelong will only get worse. We can only get better. Maybe he is a gambler.
We also have his his fishing mates (although a mate probably wouldn’t be recommending moving to Essendon atm), and I doubt he’ll pick his team based on it’s proximity to fish
Interesting that Cameron is not in that list.
Either JC will sign on at GWS or maybe its a smokescreen. I would have thought Geelong would be in the box seat to nab him.
JD to Geelong… Hmm might be the case. Genuine offers from Brisbane and Geelong? Or just musings based on that they are both outta Melbourne.
Medical files could decide Joe Daniher trade, Adam Saad to make call on his playing future after final game of the season
Sydney will attempt to secure Joe Daniher’s full medical files before signing off on a bid to recruit the injury-marred forward.
Daniher, 26, has only more game to go before he must decide on his future after his trade request to the Swans fell through last year.
While the Swans, Geelong and Brisbane are still interested in Daniher, his scan results and the specifics of his groin rehabilitation program is prized information.
Sydney won’t make a long-term investment in Daniher unless it is confident he is over the worst of the groin problems, which limited him to 14 games in the past three years.

It is a sensible approach from the Swans as they look to add some key pieces to an exciting young list that has remained competitive this season and upset Melbourne one week ago.
But it remains unclear whether Essendon’s medical staff will speak with Sydney’s doctors about Daniher’s condition and any specific concerns ahead of the exchange period.
Essendon is understood to be reluctant to part with any of the intellectual property surrounding Daniher’s groins as it strives to keep the star goal kicker.

It is customary for club doctors to speak about players’ injuries around trade time, but the Daniher issue is extremely sensitive as Essendon tries to re-contract the free agent.

In particular, the Bombers were able to glean important information when it sent Daniher to see a world-leading specialist in Ireland following surgery last year.
It means the Swans and Lions will want to put Daniher through a full medical assessment to check his groins at season’s end before proceeding with the free agency move.
That could happen as early as next week if Daniher expresses his desire to explore his free agency options.
Will Joe Daniher be at Essendon next year?
The Swans received a huge boost over the weekend when Tom Papley confirmed he was staying at the club despite strong interest from Carlton.
Essendon has vowed to match any reasonable free agency offer for Daniher, forcing either the Swans, Brisbane Lions or Geelong Cats into a trade for him.
Adelaide forced Geelong into a similar trade for superstar midfielder Paddy Dangerfield and nabbed picks 9, 28 and Dean Gore for the gun midfielder instead of losing him for a single compensation selection under free agency rules.
Daniher showed excellent signs in his comeback against Hawthorn three weeks ago when the All-Australian and best-fairest-winner snagged three goals in a comeback win.

“It has been frustrating, but I just had to stick to the process and make sure I got the injury right,” Daniher said.
“The boys’ support has been fantastic, so to come out and help them out, it feels good.”
The athletic forward will sit down for key talks with Essendon coach Ben Rutten and football manager Dan Richardson following the club’s final-season game against Melbourne on Saturday.
Essendon needs an answer from Daniher in the worst case scenario it needs to find a key forward replacement, such as North Melbourne’s Ben Brown or Gold Coast’s Peter Wright.
The Bombers are also circling a big-bodied midfielder such as Adelaide’s Brad Crouch, Richmond premiership onballer Jack Graham, Gold Coast’s Will Brodie or Saint Luke Dunstan.
Bombers’ list boss Adrian Dodoro has begun talks with Daniher’s manager, Nigel Carmody from TLA, but are still in the dark about Daniher’s intentions for next season.
