Would be weird having an accurate kicking forward as a replacement

I am sure the Daniher deal will get done pretty quickly its just going to hinge on the trigger point for first round compo. That trigger point one would imagine may come down with overall TPP reducing.

Free agents are appealing because trading is not required.

“Essendon was offered pick No. 9 (2019 draft) and No. 3 (2020) by Sydney last year, although it was unaware this year’s pick would be so high at the time.”

Is this confirmed?

If so Jackets should have had his key to the building disabled and never be allowed back.

Anytime spent on Joe this year was sunk cost, sitting on the fence was the smallest issue, he was disinterested, watched him throw cups of water in the air at staff on the bench and showed he did not give f#@k at all stages and they were “waiting for his decision”.

Yep. Disgrace.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if it was Xavier’s call not Dodoro’s

It was worth perserving with trying to sign Joe.

TBH Covid couldn’t have made it any harder to convince him to stay.

So its disappointing, but I dont see it as an outrage.

Whoever is responsible for the decision not to trade joe last year should be sacked IMO.

Correct. .

From your inside knowledge can you categorically deny that they wouldn’t have gained pick 9 from Carlton upon letting Papley go?

And is it not true that they would have let him go if they secured an in principle agreement from us for trading Joe to them for that pick 9 and their 2021 first round pick (pick 3 this year)?

They can’t get him for free if we match Brisbane’s offer. In fact once we match the offer I’d go to Geelong, Sydney and Collingwood and get and offer out of them …then I’d go back to Brisbane and ask for two first round picks

Why?

Yeah I think there is some truth to this …plus a trade from Brissy would likely be better than compo pick

To get better picks out of them. Negotiation tactic - wouldn’t mean we actually wanted to keep him.

Because the rules allow it?

“Could” do said a Journo, …that means nought, except it is possible, … and even then I wouldn’t trust even that from a “Journo” unless someone I trust verified it was actually true.

It’s true that we could do it. But the question is whether we want to. It’s an extraordinary contract for someone who has played one really good season, failed to make it onto the park for three years, can’t kick a set shot goal to save his life, and doesn’t want to be at Essendon.

If Brisbane want to make that bet, let them. I’d rather keep the money.

Joey took time out to pose for his new club

That’s disturbingly funny

that’s what I thought, I never thought this was offered, now reported as factually offered and declined. Im sure jackets said in interview other draft picks were offered.

“They put nine (Carlton’s first-round pick) and a future first-round pick (This years Pick 3)to us.”
