Paul Connors' Kellypalooza 2017

Would be nice. but way too expensive

1.2 a year, take it or leave it.

Trade wise, or cash wise? If he was willing to come to us, I think weā€™d find a way to do it.

id say both. GWS wont let him go easy, and we wont be able to pull the PSD threat this year either

Iā€™ve heard from no reliable sources that they donā€™t know whether he will stay at GWS or leave

At best weā€™ll have pick 10 this year. That and next yearā€™s first for Kelly is a steal.
Weā€™d have possibly that best young midfield in the comp. Merrett, Parish, Kelly and McGrath. Not to mention Heppell. That is an AA midfield.
Begley becomes our bull.

Seriously this whole ā€œpreferred destinationā€ is crap

9/10 times itā€™s who will offer the juiciest contract for their current situation. Do you think plowman and marchbank went to Carlton because their looking like a destination club, Lyons to Gold Coast, Wells to the pies, hrovat to norf etc ect

Are you referring to elite talent or B & C graders ?

Nah, too often a club comes in with more money and doesnā€™t even get a look in.
Which is to say, timing counts for a lot, too. Make a good money offer early in the piece.

Iā€™m referring to everyone but elite players rarely move clubs.

North will take care of that

Polec = Port over Adelaide to go home
Ebert = Port over Adelaide due to family connection

Port over Adelaide to go home? Their in the same fkn state!

As for ebert, he was moving back to SA regardless

They are the two worst possible examples you could of used

Kelly yes. Looking at the Giants they are pretty awesome everywhere. Their preferred currency will surely be great draft picks with maybe an experienced player as some steak knives to cover a key position.

Deledio has been brought in to take Stevie Jā€™s spot. They might look for an experienced ruck, Mumford doesnā€™t have a lot of games left.

If we want Kelly we need to do a hawks and trade away our 2018 first rounder for another first rounder this year. After convincing him to nom us. Reckon Oā€™meara was in the bag for the Hawks a long way out. We just forced his price up.

Iā€™d be suprised if we werenā€™t under serious consideration for any decent mid on the move. We are very good everywhere else and have a very old profile in our midfield group that create opportunities (Jobe,Goddard,Kelly,Hocking,Stanton all arguably very close to wrapping up).

We should be targeting guys who are on the fringe of cracking into their clubs midfield group and guys like Kelly.

Merrett and Kelly played together at Sandringham yeah?. Not that it means much if they did haha.

Yep. The two of them, and Christian Salem, and Nathan Freeman (he of the cursed hamstrings), and Karl Amon from Port.

Fair old TAC midfield that was. Zerrett couldnā€™t even get a regular midfield gig, and spent most of the year tooling around hffā€¦

Obviously iā€™m in the same boat as others, hope we can land someone decent for the midfield. If it was kelly obviously heā€™d push someone out no questions asked.

It does become a sticky situation next year though.
Watson will youā€™d assume play on.
Goddard has now hit his minimum games requirement to get another contract

So as it stands you still have the midfield rotation next year of
watson
goddard
hepp
zerrett
myers
Zaka (more than likely)
Iā€™d also think Parish would probably move into the midfield more next season, after a development season this year ( unless we go full essendon and try and develop one of the very few genuine mids weā€™ve drafted, as a HFF)

Some serious discussions about a few players futures will have to be made at seasons end, if they are legitimately chasing a top line midfielder.
