Kicking out

As we no longer have the ASADA thread to follow thought maybe I’d get my mind back to pure footy and ask why no-one other than Fletch, and maybe Dempsey, seems to be able to kick out affectively? This was so evident Saturday night. We need to rectify this before Fletch retires!

Unleash Dalgleish

When the going was getting a bit tough Jobe kicked out a couple of times on Saturday night to good effect.

I reckon on saturday night we had about 5 guys try kicking out. You need someone with a level head, good accuracy and distance in their kicks. Can we just get fletch on as a specialist kicker, like the punters in the nfl.

Goddard.

Myers?

I think Dempsey is an unreliable kick in.

Hibberd definitely for me.

Myers also another good option especially in the dying minutes of a game and scores are close.

He is better on the run. More of a reactionary player than a thinking one.

I liked Dalgleish taking them. Just becasue the kid wasn't afraid.

Hibberd definitely for me.

Myers like fletch can get a lot of distance reasonably accurately.

He's not as confident with his 20-35 metre kicks though. If you bugger them up when kicking out its a goal to the opposition.

Hibberd has been excellent in this role. Myers would be another to take on the duty from time to time. The Blooos had Toohey kick in with a huge roost down the middle for a quick coast to coast goal. Myers could do something similar from time to time as well. lf he gets on to a decent punt he could reach the centre.

Much like the “steep learning curve” debate…

Is it kicking in or kicking out.

Ways thought it was in myself. I played full back for a lot of my junior days and it’s a lot of fun, a great responsibility. Dot think you have to be long kick, just reliable and accurate. Plus you have to be able to punch a FF in the back o the head without giving away a free kick.

Goddard or Hibberd for me. Would be a good change up from time to time to see someone like a Mysers bang it 70m, like we saw Tuohy with Carlton on the weekend.

Hibbo for me too . Kick outs have been a problem for a while now

We don’t do much better with the opposition kick in either we always give easy meters

Hibberd definitely for me.

I like the idea of him taking the kick out. I think someone who has a bit of distance in their kicks is a really good start and he's pretty acurate. I hope they are using Fletch as a coach to groom someone, whoever that may be. Jobe did well Saturday night, but I don't see this as a good option long term. We need him down the ground.
