Foulds never won a game off his own boot? l guess you missed the time he had just 10 kicks playing on Francis Bourke and from those 10 kicks scored 7 goals. Bourke could play a bit and was a more than decent FB, but Foulds made him looks slow that day somewhere around 1981 - 82.

I remember that game very well. Ahead by 26 pts I think at 3/4 time at the MCG and let them come storming back. Carman had a shot for goal late in the game about 40 metres out in front which would likely have won the game for us, but missed.
We reversed the result completely later in the year at Windy Hill - 26 pts down at 3/4 time, won by 4.
Unfortunately he’d have to be a monty for the starting sub, any chance I could wish Courtney Johns to be a late in and get injured in the first passage of play for Aylett to come on?

Yes it was at the G. They were the reigning premiers and the strongest team in the comp. We were still the Baby Bombers but we were starting to build up into a force of our own. Foulds was always a great kick although he was no star, but that day he really turned it on. At thr 3/4 time address, the players weren't listening to Sheedy, instead they were taking more notice of all the slaps on their backs from thr trainers. The Tigers were always going to come back that day, we weren't ready for them. There was much to learn from that game. l think at one stage Ronnie Andrews picked up David Cloke in a tackle and dumped him like a sack of spuds.
He's clearly worked very hard; it would be pretty tough to break into a new team after only a handful of rounds as an off-season recruit. He's done very well.
Good luck to him, I hope he IS the new Gary Foulds, who was terrific.
