Last Time They Met

Seemed like we played them in the Sunday twilight slot on Fox Sports for about 5 years in a row at one point. Bring back the fat sash and red shorts this week and we should beat them.

Sat behind a essendon fan at the 2010 game who looked like he was on the juice BIG time, he was that pumped up after that win he looked look he was going to empty out the entire top deck.

The cold Sunday twi light games against the Saints during the Knights era were quality.

Even the loss to earlier in 2009 we were coming home like a steam train just couldnā€™t impact on the scoreboard enough to hit the front.

1993 Grand Final.

Have you ever seen a ball drop suddenly like that Mercuri shot at goal? Crazy

At least Scotty was there to kill them off

Knew we had that won the second Mark Athorn went to Longy before the bounce

Fark Carlton.

The Carlisle game in 2013.

Loved Fletchā€™s gesture as the siren sounded. So thatā€™s where David Myers got it fromā€¦

2011 drawn game, two early knee injuries and they still couldnā€™t beat us. It felt like a win.

And Fletch gave us two moments I will never forget, cruising through the centre of the MCG for a long bomb goal and then running down Jeffy on his way to a certain match winning goal.

Knew we had that won the second Mark Athorn went to Longy before the bounce

Genuine lol for the Mark Athorn reference.

Mark Athornā€¦

Good times.

I miss having a young Number 18 in our forward line

Oh and how ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  good was Weitering in that game? Did he win the Brownlow that year?

Could not go without posting thisā€¦what a win

Special mention to a couple of other games too;

Round 3 2009: A very young side and an unbelievable win, high-scoring frantic game at the G
Round 4 2012: All the hype with Fcfc as they beat Coll the week beforeā€¦the game we ā€˜monsteredā€™ them LOL @ Carrazzo

Thought itd be a fun idea to have thread dedicated to memories of old games of the team we're about to play. Good or bad. So Carlton... Still think 1 of our best wins against Carlton was in 1998 when scotty kicked the winning goal after being 28 pts down with about 5 mins left.

Back when we still had the band together. Now we are building a new one.

From Wiki
The significance of 1981 is highlighted by the memorable and controversial finish to the teamsā€™ second meeting that season, which was held at Princes Park. With twenty minutes elapsed in the final quarter, Carlton held a 26-point lead; but, Essendon kicked four goals in the remaining twelve minutes to win the match by one point. The controversy came when, with the margin still at 14 points, Carltonā€™s Mike Fitzpatrick conceded a free kick in defence for the rarely applied infringement of wasting time; that free kick resulted in a behind, and therefore did not have a direct influence the result, but it is the incident from which this game is mostly remembered. That match was the second in a string of ten consecutive wins by Essendon against Carlton.

Neale Daniher was the star

When Kernahan only had to kick a point to win in 93, and from 30 out on a 45 degree angle, missed everything, & kicked it straight into the FuCarlton crowd instead, . they were so sure they had this one dusted, the butt hurt was fantastic.
