Last Time They Met

Kangaroos… still think this is the best game I’ve ever seen… what a friggin team we were!

This wasn’t televised into Perth. Came home from junior footy and saw how far down we were. Sat on a computer watching the scores tick over thinking “what the ■■■■”. The strange thing is I remember even when we were 69 down thinking “we can win this”.

Channel 7 ended up broadcasting it that night at about 11pm so I got to stay up and watch it. Seen it 10 times since. That self belief is ridiculous.

As good as this was, I think the best ever performance from this team was the 2000 qualifying final against the Roos.

Memories of the way we were.

Get out of my way says JJ not once but twice. <3

Rnd 1 2006 @ Docklands, Lloyd scores 6 first qtr goals on the way to 8 for the match in a narrowish win.

I think that it may have been the first six goals of the match or Essendon’s first six goals that he scored.

I’m a week late but I remember being very up and about. Lloyd turned it on, we pantsed the reigning premiers in round one, the season was on! Was it round 16 we then won again?

Round 17 1999 for mine is the best Norf game. How about this beauty from Lloyd.

Nearly ripped a seat off its hinges in rage at the umpires when we played them in 2011.

All their c***s dominated too, Harvey, Thomas/Petrie

Should’ve pinched that win

What about Knights first Game as coach 2008? Was great to see all out attack when it worked

Chapman’s four goals on debut we were his two year deal.

Wasn’t televised into country Victoria either (I don’t actually know if it got televised into Melbourne?). I was the same and sat up at 11pm and recorded it onto VHS haha. I reckon I wore that tape out.

No it wasn’t, they had the west coast and Geelong game on.

I remember speaking to a friend after that and at quarter time of the Eagles/cats game they showed our scores and were like “holy ■■■■, is my TV broken? No? Suffer Essendon”

Then they showed the scores at half time.

To Seven’s credit, they recognised its awesomeness and replayed the game in full on the Monday (?) night. They never did that at the time.

Wish it showed MJ’s tackle on Shannon Grant. Cop that.

Other than the ANZAC day 95(?) replay? Never heard of them doing this for any matches

And then two weeks later Lloyd ripped his hamstring off the bone against the Doggies unfortunately.

We drew with FC in Rnd 16 in the Bryce Gibbs Cup and didn’t win until a week or two after that.

Holy ■■■■ that one from a couple of years ago was a joy to watch. I appreciate that it didn’t show anything that went wrong and was just our highlights but how slick did we look at times?

Great game - loved every second.

Hardingham, Gleeson, Chapman and Ryder making a mockery of Norf.

Jason Johnson’■■■■■ on John Blakey in the 2000 Ansett Cup Grand Final.
That hit set the tone for the entire year.
