Way back in my Safeway days, before barcode scanning was a thing, the nightshift shelf stackers would deliberately price tag every second box of condoms and tampons. It was hard to tell who was more mortified:
- the checkout chick either a) holding up the offending box of frenchies/ women’s sanitary aids to a member of floor staff or b) broadcasting to all the world over the PA what they needed a price check for, or
- the customer (more often than not a teenage boy/girl), who’d been the innocent victim of the nightfillers’ shenanigans…
