Lesser Known Albums That Are Personal Favourites

Girl Talk - Feed the animals.

Great workout mash ups.

Another post, another soundtrack. This time the movie is Rush and even features Greg Allman in one of the main roles, as a heroin dealer (seems very apt for that time. what else could he possible be?) The musical highlight is a blistering blues workout without Buddy Guy & Eric Clapton trading chops for nearly 11 minutes, and it still isn’t long enough!

Angelique Kidjo should need no introduction, her music is well known all around the world, l have been listening to her for about 40 years, this album is a good introduction to those who are new to her music.

Agitation free - 2nd
The whitest boy alive - dreams
Spiritualized - Ladies and gentleman were floating in space
Neal Francis - changes

Live:
Jerry Garcia band - after midnight Kean college
Joe Walsh - you can’t argue with a sick mind

Another from 1975. Ian Hunter’s first solo album, after Mott the Hoople disintegrated. The first 3 tracks rock as well as anyone has ever rocked. A couple of other tracks are quite autobiographical, especially ‘Boy’. This is the best place to start any exploration of Hunter’s work.

Etched in Blue - John Schumann

Inspection 12 - Get Rad

Wacky mixture of styles and great musicianship.

Almost Here - Unbelievable Truth
(Well-crafted, pensive, quiet indie-pop with Thom Yorke’s brother on vocals. Not too far from Crowded House in sound/style).
