Not written by him…
Yeah, I realise.
That someone bothered to write an article about what this bloke thinks about anything just proves how low “Journos” * cough, have sunk.
Or should I say how desperate they’ve gotten.
WHY DWAYNE RUSSELL IS “GLASS HALF FULL” ON ESSENDON
BY SEN 2 DAYS AGO
Dwayne Russell isn’t writing off Essendon nearing the start of the 2020 season.
It’s been revealed at least 15 Bombers players have undergone surgeries since they were eliminated by West Coast in the first week of last year’s finals.
This is what really ■■■■■■ me off about these bullshite media articles.
The source of this “stat” actually said “since they last played” - eg going all the way back to Draper & Smith in April etc.
Since our finals loss the number is between 6 & 8, depending on how you want to count Zaharakis’s 2 ops etc, Gown re-injuring his foot etc.
Some here missed that qualifier completely- ah, we’re ■■■■■■ as a club, we can’t manage injuries etc etc.
And now the media repeats that crock of ■■■■■.
As if it’s a fact.
And now you know it’ll be repeated ad nauseum for years.
Despite it being absolute baloney.
Drain Russell is apt all right.
The comments were before during the day of the game, article was posted the next day.
Wondering if Lloyd’s commentary about being really concerned with Essendon’s season already occurred before the Marsh game too?!
Watching against the Weagles I could feel my lid prising off.
Pressure and intensity were there early. In a pre-season game. Tackles were sticking. Eyes were being lowered both coming out of defence and into the forward line. Players were showing improvement and results from a hard pre-season. We looked, dare I say it, competent.
The lid was bubbling. Trying to launch itself skywards.
But they’ve done this to me before. Every year. I’ve fallen for it each time. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 20 times, then I’m an Essendon supporter.
So I can’t embrace the cult of lid off. I want to. Truly. But I just can’t do it to myself again.
But nor can I be lid on. What if? WHAT IF???
So here I am. Neither one nor the other.
I am Schrodinger’s Lid. Guess I’m off to start my own thread.
Watching against the Weagles I could feel my lid prising off.
Best euphemism for cracking a raja I’ve ever heard.
Bwahaha! Well I do love my footy.
I’m quite excited to see what we can do this season. There is a lot of talent on our list, it just hasn’t been utilised within a cohesive system near well enough. Some of the mixed messages across the last 2 pre-seasons about players being “confused” about gameplans and new defensive systems didn’t bode well, but there’s no such talk this season. One pre-season game in and we look a lot more organised and ready for the new season, and that’s not taking into account the injuries and restricted pre-seasons from most of our better players. The club has been very quiet, no real taking ourselves up, and I’m happy with that. The proof will be in the pudding. A 3-0 or 4-0 start and we will see the hype train (or hype truck shall we say?) build.
If we smash Freo I’d be surprised, but I would say there is no lid and no ceiling and it’s all uphill from there, Sydney and Carlton should be wins aswell then we should be getting some senior players back for rd 4
Heppell
Hooker
If they don’t play earlier
Ambrose will be in the mix
Stewart
Bellchambers
A lot to look forward too.
I’m testing the boundaries.
Im definitely lid off, I reckon we will win a final this year but 2021 and 2022 we will do some real damage
I get that this isn’t my thread and I promise I won’t stay long, but I’m worried, as I always have been, that this year is our last realistic crack at the golden ring for…three, four years.
I obviously don’t think we’ll get there this year, but I do hope we can play some good football and not be a fifty-fifty chance against every. single. team in the league.
Anyway, wim out.
Enjoy the unbridled enthusiasm.
After going through the saga years with absolutely zero essendon supporters that I interact with in Perth it’s easy to get pumped and excited for actual footy.
Besides, supporting rafa yields enough success. Essendon’s my long term project.
this year is our last realistic crack at the golden ring for…three, four years.
Interesting take.
Our midfield is really coming together, and by 2021 will be able to compete with any in the league.
Shall I assume that the likely holes created forward and back have you concerned in the short term (decline of Hurley & Hooker, ageing of McKernan, ??? on Daniher & Stewart, progression of Draper after serious injury etc…)
Totally agreed my sentiments exactly
Especially if we get Gaff
It’s Hurley and Hooker.
Cool! Thanks man
Hey, welcome to the forum.
Love your bio.
This Hird news has me reasonably sized. ■■■■ it. Lid off
I had a hird4.0 dream last night.
Consciously and subconsciously LID OFF.
