List build - where are we going in the next 10,000 posts?

Prepare to be disappointed.

The two complete shanks in a row in the middle of ground under no pressure in one his late season games didnā€™t exactly demonstrate being a great kick

I think itā€™s more the opposite of what you are saying.

Got the footy brain and decision making, canā€™t execute consistently well by foot. That was one of his question marks at draft time IIRC.

Whether it was fatigue or just rushing himself in that game with those obvious errors unsure but certainly going to be area for him to work on.

Not a HBF option IMO, which needs the precision kicks under pressure which Sheezel has exhibited

Iā€™d say itā€™s more to do with tiredness, than his ability.

When he lowers his eyes he hits his targets.

What he needs to work on, is lowering his eyes when running a paceā€¦ā€¦ and hitting that 25-35 meter kick. Too often he bombs long to a contest when he has options available.

He needs to work on it, but his pace and kicking will be an asset off half back, until he has the tank for midfield.

yep very true that they arenā€™t damaging.

again i go back to the top sides, collingwood didnā€™t have an great defender who could use the ball exceptionally well, brissy only really had one, port are similar, melb not quite sure there.

again the problem we have with the backline, we have no smalls who are actually good defensively, bar kelly.
the rest get shown up, and then as you mention with their lack of skill are trying to play catch up from the get go with little to no actual skill to back it up.

and people want to use, oh but a kid 4 years ago played junior footy in the backline, so we can just chuck them down there now and we will be right.

i mean cox is a 200cm odd player and people are trying to run with we can chuck him down the backline as a small defender to play a running HBF :man_facepalming:

I would throw out a best 22 on here for season 2024, but honestly there are some elite units on Blitz that do it far better.

As a lid-offish contribution, I will just say that what might be the most important on-field improvement next year is our ability to legitimately compete in the air across the ground for the first time in quite a few years.

If we can actually roll into the season with all of Wright, Draper, Ridley, Goldstein and McKay clunking to the early mornā€™ - with Martin, Duursma and Durham capable through the midfield lines- it will be quite a different look I reckon.

i mean none of the pies guys are butchers either though and moore can be very damaging. lions, mckenna can be very precise the other probably serviceable, not mcgrath level bad though. Houstan is fantastic by foot, mckenzie can be very damaging , bergman mroe than serviceble. May is an elite left foot kick, ditto salem, rivers very good too

ridley is the only one that compares favorably by foot IMO

Essendon trio Will Snelling, Jaiden Hunter and Patrick Voss remain unsigned.

Hunter had his season cut short by a back injury after he was taken in the mid-season draft, while Voss has shown he is raw as a forward and Snelling has been a regular contributor across 65 AFL games.

ā€œI get it from a club perspective, list spots are so tight these days but it does make it tough for the boys just sitting there,ā€ David Trotter, who manages Voss and Snelling, told Trade Radio recently.

ā€œI am still hopeful for both of them, I think ā€˜Snellsā€™ is pretty underrated in the role he plays and they really value what he does around the club and as a teammate. Vossy coming in and doing what he did this year ā€¦ he needs to learn his forward craft but it isnā€™t through a lack of trying.ā€

How to we pick up JUH next trade? Dogs will want our first born as well as two arms and a leg. Obviously we could collect the spoon and march him to the preseason but thatā€™s unlikely to happen.
We will need at least three firsts to open the bidding. So, maybe trade this years first for one or two first rounders next year?

IMO even two first rounders is a massive price to pay for any playerā€¦ Jeremy Cameron was 13, 15 and 20 and actually had runs on the board. Iā€™d be staggered if any club offered 3 first rounders (not that we have them) as a ā€˜first bidā€™ for JUH since 1. thatā€™s not how the process works, and 2. he hasnā€™t actually done anything of note yet on the field.

Our ā€˜opening bidā€™ should be a blank cheque to entice him to the club in the first instance. And then we must be prepared to pay up a fair price in a trade which IMO is 2 first rounders and maybe a player of value at absolute maximum.

No way should we be trading multiple firsts for any player.

Finish top 6 and win finals before you trade your picks away for the last missing piece

Generally agree, but out of all the out of contract players next year I would trade whatever is required to get JUH. Key forwards of his ability and age are extremely rare. He is a modern key forward.

There is no way that JUH will be available next year. Dogs will sign him on a 10 year contract.

Until thenā€¦ let us dream

Dogs might want to sign him to a 10yr deal. Doesnā€™t mean he chooses to stay though.

If we want to avoid using a future first prob needs to be a player and if they losing a kpf give them one back. Our 2024 1st, 2nd and Jones ?

In any case going to be interesting times.

Swans might have 3 x late 2024 firsts from Freo for Logan McDonald

You will need 2024 & 2025 1st rounders and more.

We wonā€™t.
Heā€™ll sign an 8 year contract by the end of the year.
