@brady on the other handâŚ
I also was one who certainly liked the idea of Isaac Cumming and what heâd bring as a player is something we need but I tell you what, his body is a real concern at this point. He did a â10 week calf injury in the pre-season that only just saw him return via the VFL a couple of weeks back and now heâs done his hammy and is out for another 6.
And heâs had plenty of other significant soft tissue injuries in recent times as well. In 2020 his hamstring tear was that bad he was sidelined for 3 months and last season he missed nearly 2 months with a calf.
So in summary, I like him but itâs now a genuine problem that youâd want to investigate thoroughly before handing out a solid contract to him.
Thatâs because they run away from danger.
That is a good point. Iâve got similar concerns over Perryman.
I thought he was a wingman.
We were talking about Wanganeen.
Yea it was unintentional.
So, are we saying Gresham and Guelfi are good enough small forwards? Because in that case we only have to upgrade one role (Davey jnr). And weâve still got two thirds of the season to see how all of the four very young small forwards we have progress.
Upgrades on two of those three for mine plz.
Menzie, Wanganeen irrelevant - they are not going to make it at the level (for different reasons).
I think Perryman is a very good player, but I think his best role is half back, and he plays a very similar game to Redman when playing half back. I think reddog is vastly under-utilised in our current defensive structure.
Really like Perryman. Just think he isnât the right fit for us necessarily.
How can teams like Coll and Melb keep playing debutants and keep winning.
Players like Hayes should have been given a go. Nothing to be afraid ofâŚ
If you look at how bad VFL performs, Hayes is always playing well.
We keep adding qaulity free agents like last season and anyone who is not up to it we trade/delist
Offer Stengle $900k give him something to think about

In the Pies case this week they lost 4 senior players to injury/susp on top of 4 already being missing and itâs not like theyâve been debuting kids, most are mature age
I think only debuts this year are
Sullivan 26yrs old
Bytel 24 (ex Saints)
Richards 23
Dean 22
27yr old journeyman Billy Frampton is picking up key defensive slack for them given Murphy retired
Hayes is 19, developing well in VFL but doesnât necessarily mean is ready for AFL nor seen as ahead of other more experienced options yet
Yeah, I donât think we have all that many rookies who are yet to debut, are fit and in form. Hayes and Roberts are the two that I can think of. Neither is dominating the position to the extent that they can outperform a mature player being shifted from elsewhere on the ground.
Caddy and Davey are building form after injury.
Theyâll all get their chance.
The (injury) list has been so poor for so long that draftees have had to immediately play seniors because there werenât any other options. I think people have gotten used to that and are forgetting itâs a great thing to be able to develop players in the VFL for a few years
I think theyâre also forgetting that effectively Goldstein, Durrsma, Gresham and McKay are all debuts for us this year, and all pushed down on rookies getting played.
E.g. If we didnât have Goldstein Bryan would have got a lot of football this year. Maybe weâd still be winning, maybe not, weâll never know.
A lack of elite small forward is killing us. Been an issue since Fantasia left us and Tippaâs form fell off the cliff.
What is Malcolm Rosas doing at GC - is he injured - We tried to get him before he debut he could be a potential option - think he is the type we could go after.
