Winding up with the collective of Cox, Perkins, Reid, Hobbs & Tsatas out of picks 8,9,10,13,5 has set us back another 5 years. You just can’t afford to be doing that ffs.
Let’s hope the “good run” where the wheel starts to turn was the Caddy draft. Need to fkg nail the next three drafts now.

That’s is an all time list, I do t think you could have done worse if you tried.
The thing about the whole ‘It was 100% Dodoro~recruiting: that’s the reason why we are so ■■■■■’ narrative is that, apart from being simplistic, it’s assuming a scenario where there was a problem (Dodoro couldn’t identify talent, couldn’t create a balanced list), it has been removed, we can now go on our merry way…
I mean, that’s a best-case scenario - or at least, not a worst-case scenario.
When in the last 20-odd years have we walked past a worst-case scenario without giving it a thorough going over?
A worse scenario would also involve other factors which impact the end goal of having a capable list, that impact ‘development’, and might be harder to identify/scapegoat/improve/remove, and which live on post Dodo. And it is not mutually exclusive, an either/or proposition - Dudoro vs development. That’s the thing: ask ‘what would the worst case scenario be’?
With this fecking club it’ll probably be that.

SHIEL OPEN TO CONTINUING AT BOMBERS
Veteran midfielder Dylan Shiel is opening to playing on again next season if Essendon thinks he can assist the development of the next wave of talent in red and black.
Shiel, 32, is in the final year of his contract with the Bombers, but has split his time between the AFL and VFL this season, playing 10 games at both levels in 2025.
He was one of the Bombers’ best players in the 93-point loss to the Bulldogs last Friday, but hasn’t yet made a decision on his future.
Asked if he was open to playing a 15th AFL season next year, Shiel said: “Yeah, sure … I’m open to it. I enjoy coming to work with these young guys.”
“My body feels good. We will assess at the end of the year whether I am going to play on or not. But I’m open to it.”
It’s not yet known if the Bombers would consider handing Shiel a one-year deal, or whether another club could throw him a lifeline.
He said the young Bombers were keeping him young, saying the most important thing at the moment was to help the injury-decimated Dons get through the last five games.
“We are not getting the results we want now, but this core of players will get there,” he said.
“It is hard for the public to see but they are doing a lot right from Monday to Friday. I love their energy and their work ethic.
“You get (inconsistency) with young groups … but (the next month) provides a good opportunity to focus on improvement each week and guys basically controlling what they can control. That’s all we can do, just keep trying to get better.
“I feel like the boys have bought into that and they are having a crack.”

I’m not fussed if he goes or stay. if he stays it will be a 1 year deal on fark all money.
After Merret,Shiel is next best at being an ultimate professional in how to train and prep during the week our youngers need his experience imo.

Couldn’t care less what they think. I’ll trust my own eyes and the many junior coaches and development coaches involved with the underage program for years over the AFL media fools that watch a 5 minute highlight reel of each player and suddenly think they are draft experts
