List build - where are we going in the next 10,000 posts?

Not saying we should follow that strategy btw. I don’t think it’s what we’ve been doing for 15 years though.

Honestly if these blokes aren’t looking for a new club, it really does tell you a lot about their mentality….. which is to cruise through their multimillion dollar-multi year contract, without doing much.

A driven player would be seeking out new clubs who can get them right and play in a successful team. This club just isn’t right for them.

This situation is not exclusive to Essendon. As many of you know, I follow Leicester in the championship. They went from winning the EPL to laughing stock and poorly run Club in a matter of five years when the Son took over from the owner died.

Leicester has half a dozen players that are not up to scratch, stuck on high wage contracts and they will not move or will not entertain trades to other clubs because it is so cushy being on the list, because they have their nice juicy contract. Half the time these players aren’t even selected. It has hampered our trade window every time it opens because those players just will not move on and we can’t bring in players because of the PSR.

We need to move on from our crusty old players that have not moved us forward. The club will not change until we get rid of the plodders. It just annoys me when I see best 22 lists that include these players.

So leaving the situation where you have to work harder for success is the more “driven” approach?

My ‘non supporting’ Essendon mates who watch us play also have some doubts about Kako and his abilities.

Quite obviously not what he is saying.

Leaving the club that is happy to not work hard, in favour of a club that is willing to, would certainly be a more driven approach.

Then your mates have zero clue

He does not have the tricks of the best small forwards. Get him to sprint training so he is quicker over the first three or four steps.

Wat?

Kako can play.

Kako is fine, his read off a pack is elite. End of the day, you can be a successful small forward with that trait alone.

He does however, need to work on his tackling first and foremost. That effort on Cleary last week v Dogs was ordinary.

Another 30 games he be sticking those no probs.

its a bit too early to say this on here, the hype period hasn’t worn off yet

but i agree, hope he shows something soon

Comparing Kako to Davey jnr is wild.

Kako is way ahead, its not even funny.

His pressure is better, can stick a tackle, doesent get ragdolled by the opposition when tackled, way fitter, way stronger, and is starting to hit the scoreboard consistently. This, all while playing every game in his first year of football.

Each of the last couple of years, Davey has faded out heavily after a few games.

In an extraordinarily rubbish side

I don’t agree, but that’s fine.

I can’t remember ever being wrong though.

Won’t get Stringer.

Has he nominated us yet?

Let’s hope that Goldstein is a selfless club man and retires rather than having Essendon sign him on for 2026.

Please no more.

Assuming full availability what’s everyone thinking would our best back 6 would look like?

I find it hard to work out.

Roberts, McKay, Reid, Ridley, Blakiston, Nguyen, McGrath, Starcevich(assuming we land him), , Hayes….. Theres a bit of depth there.

McGrath McKay Reid

Redman Ridley Roberts

Plus Prior on the bench. Thought Prior has been legit good the last month or so.

I’m a no for Starcevich.

Expecting one of Draper/Bryan and one of those mids to go. can’t see anyone coming for Gresham/Guelfi types that are contracted.

Tempted to keep one of Laverde/McMahon ahead of Lual. Depending on list spots and how other trades go, I wonder if ADW has shown enough to lock in a 2nd year as a rookie.

I’m on an island with this one but would ideally keep Davey around for another year as a rookie if we could - I like the HB move and am generally fond of players who are quick and can use the footy.
