List build - where are we going in the next 70,000 posts? (Part 3)

It’s been pretty evident for a few years now.
There were signs there when Caddy was integrated into the team off limited ‘form’. But since then, they’ve continued on leaning more away from the previous list manager’s recruits towards the current list manager’s recruits.

It doesn’t mean it’s a blanket rule across all lines and in all situations.
They are definitely getting prioritised more than previous years. Even if it is only ‘because of injuries’.

Rosa is going to make his mistakes (Draper, certain contract extensions, etc). As long as they aren’t as crippling as the previous recruiter, we’re at least improving off a very low base.

this is basically why I have switched off from all media these days.

no sane person can actually take in all the Essendon bullshit without losing there mind. It is always Essendon is ■■■■ duh duh duh, but not due to this or because of that.

in a nutshell telling the imbeciles in the media we are rebuilding without calling it that.

how good do the last 2 years draftees look? bloody good.
how crap were the years preceding that? ■■■■? yep, I know

Remember though, Caddy and Roberts were Dodoro picks. Rosa was only hired a month out from the national draft.

Yep.
That’s fine.
It’s okay to say Dodoro got some picks right. Even if it took him multiple years to actually produce a pretty strong group of recruits.

You don’t need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Keep what’s good and build from that base.

There’s plenty of reasons to criticise Dodoro but people don’t need to make up crap to do it.

This is purely to change our senior players (who suck) with senior players who can fight and help teach these kids.

Cal said Brisbane still keen on Ridley.

We pay all of Ridleys contract and they give us thier first rounder essentially pick buying

Their second rounder is currently pick 33 which will be closer to an early third not sure we would accept that.

Reports that Pies are interested in Neale and Cal thinks he dosen’t want to go a lowly team

If they offer us a first round pick and we reject it, I will be extremely displeased.

would you do a 2026 second + a 2027 second rounder from Brisbane?

end up with pick around 40 + a pick around 30

(spitballing, reading it, I probably wouldn’t take it)

Yep if they offer their first take it and run

nah wouldn’t take it be asking for their first

Maybe their second rounder plus a player that’s from Victoria that cant get a game.

Their list is stacked and probably have players that cant get a game that would be a regular starter for us

Probably correct, but we could pay him 5 million over 3 years, we ain’t paying anyone else. Extra 5 mill will help with his divorce.

If we are doing that and generating them a decent free agency compo pick then Brisbane can cough up some more draft picks for Ridley.

100% if Brisbane offer their second I would tell them to get stuffed.

Would be a great data point for us though if another club were able to get the best (or anything at all) out of Cox and Perkins.

Lol Coxball

Hell no. Pick #30 in 2027 is equivalent to around #50. I’d want at least a first and a second. So for Brisbane their first and F1 which will be equivalent to a first.

I’m assuming we’re paying 3 years of salary.

I think we probably just keep Ridley, he’s our best defender.
Hold him to his contract, then let him go as a free agent when the time comes.

I’m over giving the contending teams what they want.

Imagine Hawks with Merrett, they would probably be equal Flag fancys.
