2026 might be Langford,Parish,Redman etc we still going to finish bottom four with those players anyways.
Next year is supposeldy a stronger draft and if the new fitness bloke can get them fixed and they play decent footy we could get more value in a trade right now their value is low.
For McMahon? It’s a one year contract and we can still draft forwards. I agree with you by the way but he can play vfl most of the year and play some seniors as well. Our vfl team was ■■■■ this year

With all the talk of contracted players wanting out, some of the more theoretically “obvious” delistings could get dragged out. Eg - if Parish and Tsatas are trying to get out, it may hold up decisions on Setterfield / Hobbs . And yes, I know that many will think that it shouldn’t , but at the end of the day the club is entitled to wait and do a full evaluation of the state of play. Plus, the season isn’t over and we may not wish to commit to too many outright delistings until trade period clarifies some things for both key players and fringe players.

Main positive is he isnt injured or injury prone, so he’ll probably get games based on that. Maybe 6. Enough to see whether he’s worth keeping…..

To be clear, if Merrett, Draper, Ridley and Langford leave (plus Shiel, Lav, and Goldy) then intentional or not I’ll be agreeing its a rebuild.
If we’re trading out multiple players for picks, then I think it only makes sense that some fringe decisions get put off for a year. We’ll need 2026 delistings to, and 2026 is looking like a lot deeper draft.
I’d actually like Davey to have been in that boat. If we traded out enough players, he’s one who I think one more year with his body more developed and playing defence could have seen a blossoming.
If Davey couldn’t get on the park during this injury ravaged season then it’s clear the correct decision has been made to delist him.

I got the same thing! Posted it in the Merrett thread yesterday.
That is possible. It is also possible that Scott stamped his papers early and chose not to play him despite much improved VFL form.
Scott seems to make a lot of these decisions on players.
Currently he has a 0 success rate.
Add this to his Menzie push and his judgement is getting very questionable.
Just to be clear, I think Davey is much more likely to be a bust than a success. But, he improved a lot in the VFL this year, both his dad and uncle made it in the AFL after turning 22, and we need good kickers from defence.
In a scenario where we cut deep in contracted players, I think he is worth a gamble over an additional rookie pick in this draft.
