Yeah, you’re reading waaay too much into that. For starters, Merv Keane was at least as involved in drafting as Dodoro was, for many years. And several of our coaches - Sheedy, and Hird in his pre-saga tenure - have been extremely powerful within the club. If Dodoro just went off and did their own thing at the draft without their buy-in and against their wishes, he would have been sent on his way a long time ago.

There is no doubt Adrian plays a very important role at the club and it appears that he is working closely with the coaches. Adrian is extremely passionate and appears to be a mentor/father figure with our younger brigade.

I think you are missing the point. From what Mahoney said it was quite clear we never had a plan. That is really horrible to hear.
We were going every which way with drafting. Dodoro whilst would have listened to Keane’s views, he was the top dog making all the decisions, without a key strategy/plan. (Remembering back to when we sat there wondering why in the world anyone would reach for Steinberg out of the blue when we were desperate for midfielders and Parker was sitting there. I would be stunned if Keane told him to do that).
I think his comments about Coaches need to have a collective buy in is a terrible look on the previous coaches. Maybe even a shot at Woosha in reference to Parish not getting midfield time or Langford and Laverde not getting game time under him.
Hard to comprehend how we can let this happen for so long. Anyways, threre is a lot of positivity around the club now. Hopefully those horrible time has past us.
We went incredibly tall with our last two drafts. Any draft plan should point out the lack of small forwards and speed and polish on the wings. We need a combative mid like your Oliver at best or Viney/Libba at worse. Let’s see how the plan is in the overall draft.

Mate your making all this up. Mahoney never said that there wasnt a plan or collective buy in from the coaches etc in previous years he only talks about what they are doing now. Saying they will be selective and have a plan does not mean that they werent selective or didnt have a plan in previous years.

We wouldnt have drafted them if there was a player we rated higher that we thought would be available at our pick.

If the pre-draft meeting which was recorded and released to the fans is scripted and all of those main guys sitting around reading out of a paper of what to say and how to react to videos being shown of potential draftees, then Jake Carlisle is right. This club is farked.

I see the reality being closer to: Worsfold’s approach to the draft and list management was likely the same as he was with his players and line coaches in terms of being more hands off and self empowering. So he probably wasnt as involved with draft and trading as he probably should have. Therefore when Rutten took over, he expressed the desire to be much more involved than Worstfold was.
Interestingly, wasn’t there reports last year when Wishy Washy left that he wasn’t leaving on great terms with Dodoro, suggesting they may not have been quite on the same page (not suggesting that Adrian acted completely independently of others though)?

It’s a pretty big jump to go from the club releasing a PR piece 12 months ago to the entire club being farked in its present state. Possibly time to move on.
All of this could be true but the quotes reincarnated has posted are not evidence of it.
