I donât think heâs in any significant way different to Jacko Merrett, though.
And regardless if he was to get picked up, I canât imagine anyone would want to trade or give him a decent enough offer to actually have value in terms of us getting draft capital. Would be a DFA or rookie draft situation I reckon.
You left out Cutler, Waterman Hird & Eyre as others whoâd potentially be in line to go.
Obviously depending on how they, and others in their roles go in 2022.
Personally I think Francis is a keeper- or heâll walk away from AFL. None of those other talls match him, despite the dislike by some here.
Itâs the Brand McBride Eyre trio that an early call is likely to be made on, similar to Gown. So itâs a tall back and 2 tall forwards (unless they persist with trialling Eyre down back)
Clearly depends on whoâs drafted this year but the small forward/ wing role is directly cover by S.O.Aâs - sons of Alwyn.
Whereas Ham & Guelfi have that utility aspect, unless another team comes calling.

Critical that we nail a potential A-Grader this year with our Pick 11 (hopefully bank on someone like Arlo Draper - who is supposed to have significant upside in a similar mould to the bont) as we can let him develop in the 2s given the current health / strength of our midfield next yearâŚand hope like hell that he comes good in the next 2-3 years when weâll be hopefully challenging.

Sort of guy you enquire about, and maybe take if theyâre free or available for a 4th rounder (like us with Cutler, for eg).

Thatâs fair. Though given Cutler and Watermanâs 2020 seasons Iâd have expected them to definitely stay on the list after next year.

This talk of delisting Eyre next year seems harsh to me. He was always going to take longer to develop, if hes just okay in the VFL next year I would keep him.

Durham will add to our midfield depth and maybe Redman and Waterman could as well
I have heard this comment many times. People seem to forget that our midfield is pretty full up with
Merrett, Parish, Shiel, McGrath, Langford, Stringer, Caldwell, Snelling, Perkins, Cox, Ham. Then we added Durham in the MSD.
Taking the Talls, Reid, Brand, Eyre, Wright made perfect sense last year. fact is, we need at least one more to shore up our Tall Forward stocks

Cahill, Ham and Johnson were playing inside mid in our VFL team that was getting smashed every week. No idea who would have been playing as a small or medium forward or as a winger in our VFL team either
I donât know how youâd expect our young key position players to develop when we are getting smashed that badly in the middle.
We did a lot right last year, but itâs still a disgrace that we didnât get our VFL team in order and let players like Heppell go

Jones, Wright and Baldwin/Eyre/Mcbride/Francis/Cox/Hurley/Bryan. We have heaps of tall forward options we dont need more.

As we keep saying, if two of Caldwell Shiel & McGrath werenât injured for most of the season then you have additional mids available for the Reserves as well.
Plus, if ever there was a farked development year for talls in the VFL anyway, it was last season.
Drafting two extra mids instead of the talls would have made stuff all development difference given the interstate Covid balls up. Thanks AFL.
So at least theyâll all be fitter & stronger next year, when hopefully the Club has it much better sorted.
If you look at list management over a rolling three year period- which is a much more professional way to do it - then you have swings & roundabouts.
Some years are tall heavy. Some years are smalls. If youâre desperately trying to balance it every year you end up taking talls that are a real stretch. Pun intended.

Takeaway that Baldwin is our most likely player on the list yet to debut.
pretty impressive for a rookie.
Hope he gets lots of chances next year.
If Baldwin comes good fixes up a big hole in the forward line.
The add Hird, wanganeen and daveys as smalls addresses small forward needs.

Key need 2022. Small electric unpredictable small forward. Midfield, defence and tall forwards will develop next year.
