I know where you're coming from re body and retirement, Ace. I've picked up some Rotator Cuff tendinitis, probably from too many outfielding throws.
At 43, i think the messages are starting to arrive with regularity. In last few years a hammy, quad, calf and now a very uncomfortable fortnight. Being smart enough to listen to them is a different matter, lol.
Touch wood I've been very lucky with my lower body over the years but 30 plus years of being in the outfield has ruined my shoulder. Over the last 5-6 years I've gone from being able to whip it in over the bails from dip mid wicket to struggling to get the ball back to the bowler from mid off lol
I can attest to that! This year is the first where I've started to get pain whenever I throw with any sort of power. If I'm just lobbing one in after fielding a ball and there is no chance of a run-out then I'm OK, but if I really exert myself I get a very sharp pain in the shoulder.
Had another good week with the stick. We made 290 batting first v Sunshine YCW at home. Pitch was hard as a rock so I was happy we got sent in. I made 30 opening up, felt pretty good again although my cover drive has deserted me and again led to my dismissal, hit one straight to cover. Best I put it away, profiting from the pull and cut, hit 5 fours, 1 cut and 4 pull shots.
