Local Footy 2015

The EDFL Premier League has been a yawn fest all year. I’d be surprised if they get too many at the Grand Final.

Div 1 and Div 2 much better to watch.
Saw a ripping Div 2 Elimination Final on Sunday between Moonee Valley and Jacana with the latter running away winners in the end by 19 points. Chris Johnson (ex Brisbane Lions) was all class for Jacana propped up in a forward pocket. Great crowd for the final too although definitely not a black tie event between these two clubs. :0

Where will Fev go?

He has announced that after a successful time up at Yarrawonga, he will no longer coach the club and is headed back to Melbourne.

Chris Newman and fev ti beacons field, only a guess but I wouldn’t be shocked.

Deer Park have shown interest…like they really need anymore help.

Old Scotch have been relegated, thanks to a poor game at home. De La make finals by 1.5 games.

Mazenod get relegated by percentage after a close loss to AJAX and Parkdale having a big win.

Haileybury make finals despite Peninsula also winning.

Kew and Ivanhoe the first teams promoted.

Abers comfortably accounted for Greenvale 74-24, and Keilor pushed Pacco out.

Down in the Hampden League, North Warrnambool’s upset loss to Camperdown got Port Fairy within 3 percentage points of them. This week it was 2nd (Warrnambool) against North, and Port again 5th placed Terang-Mortlake at Terang. Wet conditions didn’t help Port who won by 35 points while North beat the Bool. North held on to the double chance by 0.3%.

So next week, it’s a repeat of this week’s rounds, 2v3 and 4v5. Warrnambool might recover, but that’s 2 losses in the last 3 weeks after only 1 before that. Port should knock over Terang. Koroit have the week off.

Division 1 1st Semi: East Malvern v Mordialloc - Springvale Sunday
Division 2 2nd Semi: Oakleigh District v Murrumbeena - Cheltenham Saturday

Who won the EDFL Division 1 Grand Final between Doutta Stars and Craigieburn, that was televised live by Channel 31?
Hadfield beat Jacana yesterday.

Doutta Stars won by 24 points.
Really good match. No more than 2 goals in it all day until Douttas got on top about half-way through the last quarter.

If Craigieburn add some more depth over summer and keep the Cloke brothers then it won;t be long until they are in Premier League.

Next week is the big one, Aberfeldie v Greenvale at Windy Hill.

Boots mob done in straight sets - won’t be happy with that!
