As full back and captain of my junior team, I selected myself for one game at full forward, against the bottom team.

My first kick in under 12s was also a behind … for the other team.
I gathered a loose ball deep in the back pocket under no pressure, kicked it and it dribbled off the side of my boot and through the goals.

I played in an U/17 game in the mid nineties, we were second on the ladder, playing the undefeated team in first.
At quarter time I had four goals from full forward. Problem was the opposition full forward had seven and we were down by about thirty points.
In the huddle, the coach told me I was being switched to full back. And I took that personally.
Anyway, three quarters later their full forward was still on seven having been absolutely blanketed in to submission, outmarked, out-bodied, repeatedly struck, spoiled and harassed whenever it got near him. Which was about a thousand Farking times.
I even added a goal to my tally with a coast to coast where I took an intercept mark on the last line, delivered it to the square, ran off my man and finally got on the end of a chain of handballs fifty out from where I duly slotted it though at 3/4 post height, straight over the goal umpires hat.
We won by a point and I received a $20 Macca’s voucher.
The bloke I beat must of taken it pretty hard because he never went on to achieve anything of note. I can’t be sure but I think his name was something like O’Loughlin? Maybe Michael?
Who would know, poor fella.

No one local will probably see this but kudos to Josh Arnold who’s playing his 300th game for the Glenorchy Magpies down here in Tassie this week. Been player/ coach for the last few seasons and has turned a young side that was getting beat regularly into a team looking finals bound this season.

The day after was discussing the local Under 15’s game and its best 3 players Couldn’t split them said one person. What about the vice captain ? He kicked 1 goal didn’t he ? no he kicked 8 and a poster as well for a team total of 8 goals. 7 points and qualified for the Qualifying final next week. That puts the Seniors , Reserves , Under 18’s and Under 15’s all in the Qualifying final next week.
Tuned the radio to East Geelong vs Winchelsea the other day.

Grand Final today in the Southwest District FL and Dartmoor, who went through the season undefeated and ended with a percentage of over 700, kicked a meagre 3.14.32.
However, their opponents Tyrendarra could only manage 1.2.8. I’m tipping that the weather and conditions were less than clement at Cavendish.

Controversy at Woori Yallock with the game called off due to lightning mere seconds after Wandin kicked a goal (which by all reports was a point) to go 5 points ahead of Mt Evelyn.

Hervey Bay Bombers kept the red & black colours flying - winning sixth Premiership in a row.
Shyte comp, but better to win it than lose. Bundaberg ATW made it close, but no cigar.
